It is pointless to win. You know they are gonna fuck this up and end up with the #4 pick.

You will. At least a hundred more times this season.

I know they have the #4 pick in this draft, they are gonna fuck this season up and end up with it again.

Every other round they still would pick first though.

Are you arguing that where you pick in the draft only matters in round 1?

Are you arguing that not getting a top 3 pick is insignificant?

"Every other round they still would pick first though." is pretty clear.

Right. No team has ever found talent at the top of the third round of the MLB draft....

Except for these guys;

Tony Gwynn
Dennis Eckersley
Eddie Murray
Bert Blyleven
David Cone
Gary Carter

Caller Bob is like a 94th round draft pick.

In general in the 2nd round, and there after there isn't much difference between the top half of the round and bottom half of that round. At that point draft grades around the same and it comes down to sigability and what bonus prospects are after.

I do think it's funny Cashman thought the Sox were getting a top 3 pick in the 2025 draft. For as much as people label Cub fans as dumb yuppies just there at the games for show, Sox fans have really shown to be pretty ignorant to the inner workings of the game.

So you are in fact arguing that where you pick in the draft only matters in round 1.

It matters absolutely most in round 1, exponentially more than any other round.

Hopefully for the last time, does it matter in round 2 and beyond?

How can I be clear, it doesn't really matter where you pick in round 2 or after. At that point what you get talent wise comes down to what your bonus pool is. Meaning, the team picking with the late pick in round 2 can get a player with a similar grade as the first pick round 2 f they have a larger pool to offer the player. Often teams take a player with a lower grade in early round 2(and lower bonus demand) and then use that pool for swing at a high demand guy later in the draft. Just admit you don't know much about the MLB draft and see yourself out of the discussion..

You could be clear by answering the question.

Are you arguing that where you pick in the draft only matters in round 1?

Just say yes, it doesn't matter.

Personally, I'd rather have the first pick in round 2 than the last pick in round 2 but I'm not the baseball expert you are.

This is also Bob at his finest. Post after post in the White Sox with everybody laughing at him, not with him.

It's objectively true that it's a battle between Red Sox and Cub fans as who's the dumbest on "the inner workings of the game".

Now go put a cap on a gravestone, wrap it with plexiglass, and grow some fucking ivy on it. Then get in your car with the W flag, kick on some 'Go Cubs Go", head home, kiss your attendance trophy, get in your cubbie pajamas, suck a cock, and take a dirt nap.

Who are the 10-20 most recent players selected with the first pick of the second round?

Jackson Holliday, who is going to transform the Orioles(along with their two other #1 overall picks) was pick #1 overall in 2022.

Meanwhile the first ten picks of the 2nd round were

Cutter Coffey
Max Wagner
Ivan Melendez
Hunter Barco
Jake Bennett
Jacob Miller
Jackson Ferris
Connor Prielipp
Cayden Wallace

I guess Brick can go to sleep with his we are picking 10 ten round 2 trophy!

I don't care where the Sox draft...no matter the draft position, they'll draft garbage.

I understand you don't want to actually make the bad argument you are making.

But yes, it is better to pick higher in the draft. You know this.

I mean, if they had the #1 overall pick, it would help things alot. I think Baltimore likes Gunnar Henderson

In Round 1. Round 2+ is more about the bonus pools. Read up on it and re-enter the discussion when you are better educated.
