pritzker is entirely focused on 2028 nationally. He only cares how things will sound to a national debate audience.

In this case he can simply read the room.

Plus, the "No New Taxes" makes it pretty easy to sell it.

The harder sell will be if the White Sox want taxpayer money the same way.

The renderings look pretty awesome. Somebody spent more time on this than the white blob AH picture.

The Bears have saved the city of Chicago. Plus, we may have to wear sunglasses inside now.

Yeah they sure did. Also, I know it isn’t the first time he has gone this route but he really thinks he is the city’s tax watcher lately.

Wow that is the best thing I have ever heard Larry say

Anyway, the new stadium concept looks ok. It's not anything unique to the city or the league though. Why wouldn't they take this opportunity to make something that gets recognized around the world?

Leery seems to think prayers are akin to genie wishes.

Don’t use them all up on nonsense or else you won’t have any left when they’re actually needed.

The Colts added seats for the Super Bowl.

the stadium has a clear roof. put real fucking grass down assholes.

and make the seating 80k. why fucking not. you haven't broke ground yet. if the seating number dictates where you can build, then we dont want it on the lake.

Sounds like a ridiculous waste of money. Might as well just construct a dome over the existing stadium.

they should raze the whole site on the lake, fill in the shore out about 1500ft, and build a new 'wrigleyville'. they can play in champaign during construction.

If they build that thing, it’ll be awesome. Build a ton of parking underground. Make the playing fields a giant urinal on game days. It’ll all work out.

Unfortunately they need the city or state to produce $2bn to make it happen, but…what if?

They also need another $1.5 billion for the White Sox.

Roof is similar to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Theirs is not clear. Theirs is designed to let in 8%-10% of natural sunlight which would not be enough to grow grass indoors. They use natural turf for raiders games which is rolled in. Not sure where they would keep it outdoors in Chicago if there is a park to the north and a parking lot to the south, let alone what you do in December and January?

The Sox can play on one of those fields north of the new stadium

The Bears have no leverage with Pritzker, since the Bears would never leave the state. It doesn't really matter to JB whether they're in Chicago or Arlington Heights.

the roof is clear in the video. if thats not feasible (will get dirty, etc), then put enough lights in the building to make it the largest sustainable grow house on the planet. the grass can grow at night.

If this were put to a referendum like Quinn proposed, this would be a non starter. Fortunately for the McCaskeys, we live in a republic where dumbass ideas like this are possible. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this passes.

I thought the same. I wouldn't make any decisions at all based on the video, but that didn't even cross my mind that they would. That was a publicity stunt, to garner a push from the public. Right? RIGHT!??!

McCaskey Heights and the lakefront stadium somehow feel equally unlikely at this point.

I stopped watching after a while, did sports gambling/casino get mentioned at all? Wouldn't that be a way to generate revenue towards the stadium build? I know the license will be a challenge, but crazier shit has happened.

"Bears Want Taxpayers To Fund Half Of $3.2 Billion Domed Lakefront Stadium"

The estimated cost by the city Half now will turn into a billions more in the future. Just like the O'Hare expansion sales and government promises is about under estimating costs for such an endevar which will turn into billions in an over budget boondoggle! Which will be put on the back of tax payers! The only people being able to afford to go to this new stadium will be rich locals and rich tourists.. Middle and lower economic class will be watching the games on TV from the outside while helping finance this thing with their tax dollars so rich folks can make more money on the back of the working class!
