First series of the year. Opener rained out last night. Seems odd that they did not do a doubleheader today. The weather is perfect. They have a DH now in July.

What the hell was that? It was like a drive by shooting where the gunman sprayed bullets everywhere, shot himself in the leg, and missed the target.

Anyway what I came here to say was the same thing. Why didn't they play 2 today? It's probably the most beautiful day you could possibly have. And it's a holiday weekend to boot. Plus, tomorrow's game might be delayed or otherwise dodgy.

It makes no sense at all. Who knows what the weather could be like in July? If it is bad that day they have really screwed themselves.

Another thing that makes no sense is why is Taillon pitching tonight and not Shota?

They want to keep Shota on schedule to be able to pitch against the Brewers. If he starts tonight he would miss that series.

Plus he had already at least done some of his prep for starting if not actually throwing warm up pitches, and they are probably wary about having him do it again today and having it affect him. Easier in the long run to just skip the start and hope that Taillon and Steele can do a reasonable job.

I hate most of the city connect uniforms. This uniform is decent, but the hat is atrocious.

Gotta be one of the most bizarre posts I've ever seen. He screenshotted directly below your post. I guess just in case you quickly decided to delete the embarrassing outlandishness of DH. Then he would've had RECEIPTS!!!!

At least he didn't go scorched earth on you by disparaging your sister's looks. That would've been the proverbial kiss of death.

what sticks with me the day after: suzuki's 3 hopper from medium-short right field and amaya's 'tag'. burleson isn't the most fleet of foot. i was hoping that he'd try to score - and he did.

these guys can't afford to play a notch below. that was certainly a notch below from suzuki on the defensive end, has a much better arm than that. burleson.

busch and amaya get a seat on the bench against sonny grey

Quote:
Mike Tauchman (L) DH
Seiya Suzuki (R) RF
Cody Bellinger (L) CF
Christopher Morel (R) 3B
Nico Hoerner (R) 2B
Ian Happ (S) LF
Dansby Swanson (R) SS
Patrick Wisdom (R) 1B
Yan Gomes (R) C

jeez...busch on the bench and grey is a righty. i wanted grey last off-season, i don't think i'd have paid him $25 million per. better yet, i wouldn't have traded ferris for busch...getting benched 50+ games into the season.

tough, but nearly predictable loss. the chicago baseball clubs having a tough time figuring out base path rules.

i suppose bellinger was supposed to run over arenado to stay in the lane. arenado didn't have the ball when bellinger swerved by him.

Timely, as I don’t want to find a Cards standalone thread, but look at this guy throw the ball. It’s unreal.

I tell ya, Stone Pony, in my six decades in baseball, I never - and I mean never - saw an Eyetie control a ball like this here Guliani fella. Me & Yaz used to play catch with a guy I called the Based Gambino. Red pilled unlike any other guy I’d ever ever seen in my eight decades in baseball, but, and I tell you what, this guy would rub down his hair - and I mean all of his hair, you know how hairy his people can get - with olive oil. Damn ball would come back to you looking like it just came out of the womb but erratic as all get out.
