Even if it made you a billion dollars it would be hard to watch a company that you started and probably loved decline. We used to order there every couple months and use it for catering quite a bit. In the last year or so we ordered maybe once and thought it's not very good and then used others for catering. It was such a good solid baseline for beef. It's a bummer I got bad food and no money out of the deal.

There are a lot better places to get beefs.

the new one in madison carved out a huge chunk of a dying malls parking lot. lines wrapped around the building for about 3 weeks. employees outside taking orders and directing traffic, it was insane.

few months later, its a ghost town. horribly, horribly managed company.

The Freakonomics podcast (yeah I'm a complete nerd, just say it) has been focusing a few episodes now on PE. Its... enlightening. The stuff on the veterinary market was relevant since I've switched away from two vets now that had been bought out by PEs after the quality of care went down the shitter.

Funny how most of us here agree Portillo's is garbage and the experience of eating in or getting take out is a miserable experience....yet their locations are always jam packed with people.

My 23 yr old step-daughter loves Portillo's. That says it all.

I have zero issues with Portillo’s food . It isnt “ garbage “ . The hotdogs are fine as are the beefs . It’s just horribly overpriced

i stopped going to my local portillos because they kept fucking up orders and took forever for online orders/carryout.

i went a few weeks ago after not having gone for a couple of years and the pricing was insane and quality was shit. and i experienced the register issues jawbreaker did. it was lunchtime and they had one person at the register with a line nearly out the door for 10-15 minutes before someone finally opened a second register

Portillo's has average beef and average hot dogs, so calling it garbage is a bit unfair. I'll give you that.
Their burgers are garbage.

getting food from any corporation sucks these days. maybe texas roadhouse is the only one that still holds water.

theres so many local family owned places to eat, i never have much desire to go anywhere thats a national name. culvers would be an exception, but theyre still regional. portillos only has 86 locations, but theyre peppered all over the country.
