Not concerned one bit. 7 on 7 is pointless, the defense knows it's always gonna be a pass.

So no QB would look good in this situation? Got it.

If the defense was bad. The Bears have two great corners and maybe the best nickel in football in twinkle toes. Since there is no threat of a run they can load up on DB's and also Odunze and Allen were out as I already mentioned. If you don't know football then yes, this would raise alarms.

In college he also looked bad against "good defenses". Which should be a cause for concern. People who claim to "know football" or sports in general should be able to understand this. It's why terms like"4A" prospects exists in Baseball.
He slayed bum defenses in college according to the numbers.
And even when you watch him play and look good on film, it's not like he overwhelms with his "physical gifts". He is an undersized QB with above average speed and hardly a "cannon" for an arm.
If you think that spells "generational talent", then what era and generation are you talking, that of the Single T formation?

Stick to the NBA

Nah I've seen enough great qbs in my day. I'm sure more than you actually. And this kid ain't it. You dissent so much with your "opinions" that it's become a running joke how often you dissent even against yourself. Which is what you wil be doing by 3rd week in September. Book It!

You think Fields is a "Franchise QB". Dismiss yourself.

Bob the fact that you contradict yourself seemingly with every other post means that you should "dismiss yourself. Even now, as you appear to be in the CW camp. You really aren't. I can't remember one post of yours which suggests whether you think he will be "very good to great". It's obvious that you are trying to provide an out for yourself if the kid sucks.

I'm not the dude literally checking for each and every one of your posts on the subject however. Or constantly imploring you to go anywhere out of fear of pissing on the "sanctity" of this board's football section. Much like your guy Flim Flamming Frank, you're hardly considered an authority on anything.

Before today I'd never posted in this thread. Meanwhile you've made the same tired ass point about the Football section for the past 2-3 months. As if my posting in the football section is akin to desecrating the Mona Lisa or something. And it can't be all that damn grand to post in if you're still considered to be a "valued member" now can it?

Not one that posted about "every throw" I can't. Everything I read pertained to his play for the day.

Just Responding To A point. And honestly, it's much more relevant to speak about his performance in an OTA than it would be to post about fingernails and pink cellphones. Which are an utter waste of time imo.

Both are irrelevant. He’s in his first week of professional football and Bears’ beat guys are counting completions in 7 on 7 drills. It’s overkill unless he starts throwing like Tebow or breaks a bone.

Kevin Byard thought it relevant enough that he felt compelled to come over and provide him the proverbial "keep ya head up kid" pep talk as a result. Something which says a helluva lot more about its importance than anything I'm going to read on here to the contrary.

My guy says Caleb threw 15 touchdowns today. Get his HoF bust ready!

Everyone but Zippy  knows you need to fail in order to succeed. I prefer the struggles to come before the games matter. If this kid is wired the way I believe he is, he'll use the criticisms as fuel.

Nas until that article was posted regarding his "struggles" in OTAs, you were about to get that Hall Of Fame bust for him ready based on a wobbly ass throw that you'd seen him make in OTAs. The very same OTAs you now claim don't matter all that much.

It says nothing. Maybe it says Byard is a try-hard attention whore. Maybe Williams benefits from that encouragement. Maybe it annoyed Williams that Byard both felt the need to do it and then talk to the media about having done it. Maybe it was ignored. Maybe it’ll make Williams gain perspective. Maybe Williams has had a bad practice or two as the unquestioned number one his entire life and he doesn’t need somebody to build him up. Maybe he does.

And MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, it strongly suggests that he doesn't perform nearly as well whenever he has to "perform" against NFL caliber players. Which is MAYBE something that MANY noticed about him when he played in college. MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, that this happens to be the case.

Nobody thought that he played poorly in college. Even the Fields cult thought the Bears would get a haul because of his value.

I’ve seen your critique ex post facto from people who don’t watch college football and want to box score hunt, but he’s been hands down the 1/1 future franchise QB for a couple years.

Nah I fell back on the football chatter til it was roll the damn ball out time. And truth be told, as a Lifelong Beara fan, I want the kid to be great. I just don't believe that he will be.

I will give him time, but it should be noted that Vegas doesn't have the Bears to make the playoffs this year. With a team obviously built to make the playoffs. And also with a QB considered by CFMB gurus to be a HUGE upgrade over the previous Quarterback.

Nope. Absolutely never happened during his college career. It was a fringe point during the draft and nothing more. I’ll die on this hill.

Guy is the most talented football player I’ve watched in college since Trevor Lawrence, and I’d probably give him a slight edge based on instinctive playmaking.

Justin Fields is bigger, faster, and has a stronger arm. Which for a QB, has always equated to more talent. And there were plenty of articles written about his struggle against top defenses while he played. Again not true.
