There was a long and detailed reminder at the beginning of the Passion readings on Good Friday, arguably the third most attended service of the year, that Jews held no culpability for Jesus', a Jew himself, death. I have learned, almost from the beginning of my religious education, that Jesus died for MY sins. Even the Old Testament suffering servant readings say "he was wounded for our trangresions".

Anyway, it appears everyone heard what they wanted to hear in that speech. He didn't say Jews killed Jesus. He didn't tell women not to work. Yet, people heard these words. The discussion about the speech is one unending telephone game of only one person having actually heard the source material and everyone relying on second hand, then third hand, then fourth hand, etc. interpretations.

Didn't he say that it's wrong that the government is going to tell us were not allowed to say who killed Jesus? That's clearly a reference to the resent Antisemitism Act which stated that it was antisemitism to say Jews killed Jesus.

Am I missing something, did he not say that?
