I love that you both care more about the cubs than your own shit. It's cute watching grown men tear down the competition rather than raise themselves up.

Well we had to hear all year about the Cubs finishing 7th in the league. We know that is coming again so it's time for us to enjoy it now.

Imagine how drunk the Cubs fans are at this game. They were hanging at the bars for 6-10 hours before the game started. And most of the people at this game are in their 20s.

the british laughed at the skills of imperial japan's pilots' slanted eyes - until those pilots sunk the respite and prince of wales, 3 days after pearl harbor.

suzuki hit the grand slam after the 3 reds were laughing at home plate.

banzai.

and yes, this guy has a problem with high flies at night, in the lights to his right. problem with his sight or concentration?

decent individual players who are collectively playing below par, disjointed team. watched tauchman lead off a game with an 11 pitch AB and happ came up next, swung at the 1st pitch and grounded out. no collective focus of how to attack the opposing starter - the mediocre ones most other clubs hit. guys are lining singles up the middle with 2 outs and no one on base, same guys bouncing into double plays/striking out with runner(s)s on base with no outs. nico still squeezing the sawdust out of the bat in clutch situations. keep squeezing, all of nico and his 2 HRs.

being disjointed is not allowing them to go from strength to strength. good comeback win last night....club looked like shit today, deservedly lost.

even marquis is ringing the alarm bells. elise and cliff had a very somber chat with the viewers after the game. a family talk, as if grandma isn't well and may not make it to x-mas.

They are simply awful right now. The starting pitching is still decent, but other than that they are a dumpster fire.

though just about all of the non-starting pitching are under-performing, the chief arsonist of the fire seems to be hoyer.

gave himself no real plan B with the catching or 3rd base. not sure why wisdom was resigned and then busch acquired. madrigal/matrobuoni are finally gone, what about smyly? the swanson deal is trending towards j-hey.

the owner has to be livid. could have kept/spent elsewhere the $5.75 million difference between ross/counsell.

will hoyer make some bonehead trades if the cubs hang around a WC spot? can he be trusted? minor league talent for rentals? desperate trade for C? the braves may overpay for an outfielder - happ and suzuki have no trade clauses, i believe. at every cul-de-sac, hoyer himself, was the architect of the cul-de-sac.

Catcher is a real problem. They have Shaw in the minors that will hopefully take over 3B at some point. There is nothing coming up for catcher.

Amaya IS the guy coming. You have to give him time, if you are devoted to developing. Catcher usually takes a long time.

yeah, i was shocked at gomes' offensive year in 2023. had to/have to give gomes credit for 2023. looks like hoyer's plan was to phase gomes out this year and start leaning on amaya to catch the bulk of games. the best of plans..

gomes has fallen off the cliff at age 36 and amaya is really struggling.

just hope hoyer doesn't give away the store in a desperation move for an iffy C. i'd stay with this C group for the time being and hope all the other under-performers can paper over the cracks at the C position. if the cubs hang around by the trade deadline, i'm afraid they'll have to make a deal for a C that can at least throw to 2nd.
