For now because that have a shiny new toy to play with. Catch them 10 years up the road and it will be a different story entirely.

So says the buffoon who hasn't had an original thought since George Ryan was cleaning kitchens down in Menard in the early 2000's

I've been a Bears fan since I was a little boy in the late 70s. Never have I thought about the lakefront nor soldier field in whether I'm interested in the team. Not once.

No one also will care when they lose either if they move to Arlington Heights. If they move to Arlington Heights the phrase "Die Hard Bears Fans" moves out with it.

Can it take "Bear weather" with it?

Yes, the Vegas residents will get bored with them, but it appears to me the California native Raiders fan absolutely refuses to let their fandom go no matter where or how many times the team leaves them. Not to mention....as a national team they do pretty well. Raiders fans must really like to get shit on.

The Bears are going to be so screwed when 30,000 people who live in Chicago no longer travel to road games if the team moves slightly outside city lines.

It's a 50-minute train ride.

You know, if the Bears and Northwestern had collaborated on a stadium in Evanston, that would have been cool. Kill two dodos with one stone.

How long do you think it takes most Bears fans to go to a game now? 50 minutes isn't bad.

And I've been a Bears fan and actually lived within walking distance of Soldier Field since the Mid to Late 70's. Would walk to the Auto Show at McCormick Place just to meet Walter Payton every year as a kid at the Oldsmobile Station. If you think the Bears not being in Chicago is not going to matter, then you are a fool. The Bears are the most popular team in this city by far. If they leave to play their games in the suburbs then that changes.

On a lower level, DePaul thought the very same thing when they moved to Rosemont. No big deal. Fans will travel with us. Ok. Depaul basketball still has never recovered from that disastrous move.

And then DePaul moved to an even worse location.

Nah. The South Loop is much better than Rosemont for Depaul

Rosemont made sense at the time when they were trying to grow old with their fanbase and follow them out to the suburbs. However, McCormick Place is neither where the alumni are nor where the students are. There was no winning play for DePaul with nowhere on/near campus to build a gym and the Rosemont hypothesis ruined by more young families staying in the city and years of terrible basketball not drawing flies to a remote location. I remember Weird Jerry offered to let them use the United Center for free to prevent more arena competition but that wasn't a perfect solution either.

South Loop is fine for DePaul. The team sucks. Which is why attendance is down. They just went winless in the Conference. Who wants to see that?

Lake in the Hills?!?

Well, anyway, doesn't matter, stadium isn't happening here. I look forward to the land being used for something more useful and less ugly.

some guy on with Mully and Haugh had access to the Bears season ticket holder list and said most season ticket holders are west and north of the city by quite a bit. He referred to it as a heat map and said that's why the Bears want AH.

An express from Ogilvie to AP would take 30 minutes.

I guess not since you're desperate to give the Bears $5 billion.

It would only be a few billion if they paid up front.
