It’s fine that he didn’t shake his hand. It’s fine they don’t like each other. Not everyone has to like one another.

Most relationships in Chicago sports media is phony where they all pretend to like each other

The people that complain about the hosts and content that don’t listen somehow still pay the bills.

He had Will Fleming on Hit and Run this morning. He mentioned that Fleming was a finalist for the White Sox TV job for which Schiffren was hired. However, he refrained from taking an explicit shot at Schiffren, and kind of just let the audience make the connection on its own (hey Chicago, you see this? You could have had this), and also managed to praise Benetti again.

The thing is, Benetti is terrible. He is just well-liked.

I did not really care for Benetti, but he is worlds better than this new guy.

This is the part I’ll never understand. I don’t know an actual human white sox fan who enjoyed listening to Benetti, particularly as that team was collapsing. I get he’s friendly with the nerds on 670 but he was an insufferable listen with an underachieving team.

No. Schriffen is just a voice. Benetti is legit terrible. His call of the Giolito no-hitter was one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard.

I didn't follow the Benetti hiring, but the first game I watched him call, I assumed he was disabled. I thought it was cool that Uncle Jerry gave a disabled guy an opportunity, and he appeared to try really hard. I assumed the over the top praise from the radio guys was based on that. I was fine with it.

Near the end of his time here, I learned that he wasn't disabled. I would have ignored him being awful, to me, if the media wasn't so effusive in their praise of him. The same media who frequently shit on Hawk. A guy who's a legend in my baseball world.

Schriffen is just a guy calling games for a shit team. There's nothing he's done that justifies the consensus media hate. I like the "Chicago, Stand Up!" thing. I would probably love it if the team was good.

Yeah, but you're wrong about most everything sports related. Oddly, your political thoughts (particularly as they pertain to JORR) are on the mark.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer when it comes to a preference. If there is, this may be one of the sports related things I'm right about. 8)

The pinnacle of the Jason Benetti experience was when he brought Michael Schur on to call a game and fundamentally misunderstand the work of David Foster Wallace.

With the amount of hate listening the hosts on the score get it was obviously a mistake to fire Benetti and lose that large demographic.

I've tuned into games while flipping thru the channels and stuck around just because Bill Walton was in the booth.

I mean, I may do that if it happens now for the novelty, but otherwise that’s psychopath behavior.

At this point being a Sox fan is also psychopath behavior.

Well I'm not going to stop on some random Pac-12 game if Walton wasn't there. That would be truly psychopath behavior.

 Ian Eagle here with the reanimated corpse of Bill Walton bringing you this dustup between Arizona State and Washington. Strap it down and enjoy!

George: You know, my mother used to walk around on our apartment just in
her bra and panties. She didn't look anything like you, she was really
disgusting, really bad body. If you could imagine uglier and fatter version
of Shirley Booth. Remember Shirley Booth from Hazel. Really embarrassing,
cause you know I had only mother in the whole neighborhood who was worse
looking than Hazel. Imagine the taunts I would hear.

Woman: Like what?

George: Like a "Hey your mother is uglier than Hazel. Hazel really puts
your mother to shame"

If that happens now, its likely to be a very quiet broadcast.

But I’d watch irrespective of the game/teams involved.
