They have an iso heavy style of play but it isn't working against Boston. And their only 2 creators have to take too many dribbles in order to get a shot off.

The other problem is Luka and his horrible defense. Impossible for them to get stops with him on the floor

Boston is too deep. Denver is the only team that could maybe guard them; this Dallas team sucks at defense. They need two guys to put up 70 and also cast-offs from teams like the Bulls to hit key shots. All while hoping the other team misses shots like Minnesota did in the WCF.

Not a recipe for sustained success against a team like the Celtics.


Of their top 6-7 guys the only horrible defender is Luka. Kylie isn't terrible and their front court guys are very good. It's because they have to help on whomever Luka is guarding all of the time which is the problem. Boston has multiple scorers which means you can't hide him this series

Kyrie isn’t a good defender. The other three guys are offensive liabilities, so they better be going balls out on defense.

Luka is big & fat enough that he should be able to just lean on a guy like Horford most trips down the floor. He can’t even do that. He barely contests shots.

It’s painful to watch.

Nah I don't agree. And he's never been to an NBA Finals either. Kyrie has saved him this playoffs low key. He had a lot of terrible shooting nights this playoffs where Kyrie picked up the slack

I agree, but this is a very likable team. No superstars, and build from within. It's an example of how organizations win championships.

I wanted to see Kyrie get his 2nd ring, but I'm glad Tatum is about to break through for his first. Boston does have the type of squad that you root for. They have a bunch of guys that really respect the game and just want to win. Hard to root against that.

I was happy however this series goes. I really like Luka and would be glad to see him win. I also like Tatum and pull for him. And I really like Brad Stevens and glad to see him have success.

What Windhorst said what spot on though. The NBA, probably more than Any other sport, exposes both players and coaches in the playoffs. Luka and his shitty D would never have gotten this much scrutiny in the regular season. It's one thing to not be a good defender or 'bad" at defense, but you can't be a liability on defense. He's a liability and Boston exposed it. But truth be told this has been the case all playoffs but they were able to weather it. Boston is too good to do that with however.

This isn't 1995. You can hide Luka with zones and other things.

He doesn’t even put a hand up on guys. I think he could be fine out there but he refuses to put any effort into defense. It’s a tough look for a fat guy.
