He and Cease are both Cy Young candidates this year, but the Sox couldn't keep them. That's Reinsdorfs legacy.

i thought the main concern with Crochet is that he's never pitched this many innings, so the around the all-star break the wheels could start falling off

That might be true. He leads the league in starts but he looks like he is getting stronger as the year goes on. The guy spent his injured time building up his body

I have no idea about how you begin to fix this team. I guess I would build around the starting pitching rather than giving it away as they usually do and probably will.

Trade Robert if you can get the right deal. They need to build a lineup from scratch. The problem is I have zero faith that they can develop any position players.

Exactly. I said at the beginning of the last rebuild that Hahn/Williams hadn't earned the right to rebuild and I feel the same about Getz.

I don't want these guys gone. Crochet is going to be in the running for a Cy Young and Robert and MVP in their careers. We've waited on both of them and now that they are developed, we ship them out for more waiting. So 25 is the bottom and we start to rise from there? I'm starting to get to the point in life that I can't give away seasons. Reinsdorf thinks he has forever.

or when the league actually gets a second and third look at him.

I don't think they can trade either. If they do, we're probably looking at four consecutive 100 loss seasons.

I don’t think 4 consecutive 90 loss seasons are gonna be much better though

Bryan Ramos being their 5th top prospect speaks volumes about their lack of quality position players in the minors.

If only the Sox had kept Dylan Cease they could be 23-47 instead of 18-52

So basically we would be the Cubs.

Schriffen and Stone saying going from a 122 to a 120 loss pace is the team is "coming around" is great stuff.

You know what a 19-54 team needs? A third catcher

It is really very hard for a team to become this bad in so few years especially while in REBUILD MODE. Sometimes the so called law of averages has to play in to it.

Is Cannon a legitimate prospect or is he more of a lower end prospect who could stick around if he overperforms?

The White Sox will likely (and should) trade Fredde even if he is cheap for next season. Trade him to a team that is in contention....try to get a legitimate prospect back while in rebuild mode.

Assuming they keep Crochet, he and Thorpe would be their "core" heading into next season (assuming Thorpe pans out this year as a legitimate prospect). Then they have guys like Cannon, Nastrini, maybe Schultz is close as another higher end pitching prospect....they have a few more options like Bush, Eder who could get some innings at some point too...Clearly, missing a proven veteran or two, but probably doesn't matter in the early stages of a rebuild if they can get enough solid/good prospects.

Offensively is where they don't have much other than Quero (C) and Montgomery (SS) ...Montgomery hasn't been that good this year either so not sure if either will be here even by next season Quero is only 20 so he could be more of a 2025 option....

If they trade Robert, they can probably land another 2 prospects, but this farm system is probably 4-5 legitimate prospects away from feeling like a top system to me.

It's getting better, but there's not enough there. They don't spend enough money on the MLB roster....

Trade Fredde for a good prospect, move any of the veteran types, but DeJong or Wilson/Kopech won't get much back.....That's why Robert will keep coming up, if healthy and producing he could land 2-3 good prospects, maybe 2 top 100 types...but I don't think teams are going to be giving away their farm systems for him.

I would still like to know what decisions he is making or what his influence/role with Getz is. Does Getz need for him to sign-off on any moves? Is he just an active consultant that Getz thinks of as a resource/mentor? Is he the President of the team (like Kenny Williams to Rick Hahn)...

I just can't see him actively involved in understanding the minor league talent that would be coming back to the White Sox in any trade discussions....

Reinsdorf must have ok'd a rebuild, but that involves not spending money so no big financial decisions to make either on free agents....

I'd love to hear some examples of actual real things he is doing.
