Was thinking just yesterday about Mays when they ran an ad about a GIANTS VS. CARDINALS GAME COMING UP in, I think, a 2A ALABAMA ball park where the Negro league played a lot of their games. I wondered whether Mr. Mays was going to be in attendance. I'm happy that Willie was still around when MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL opened up it record books to include MAJOR LEAGUE STATS AND HE GAINED A HANDFULL OF HITS INTHE PROCESS. Record geeks can debate this shit all that they want but it is all nonsense either way you take it as far as I am concerned.

The greats are special and to me it is clear that Willie is one of the most special of them all in baseball. I consider him the best over-all non-pitcher in the sport. Not the greatest hitter. Maybe 3rd being Ruth and Williams. Certainly the best outfielder. And maybe the best non pitcher of them all with competition from Ty Cobb and Hank Aaron?
