It really is crazy how fast both of those guys fell off. Batting title and 2nd place in the MVP race and now they are both terrible. It looked like Chicago was set up to have really good shortstops for an extended period

Baez doesn't surprise me. His game was always premised on quickness (which is the first thing to go) and he was too much of a free swinger. Bryant, on the other hand, does surprise me.
