Should be a fun tournament this weekend. Weather calling for cool temps, some wind and good chance of rain most of the days. I'll never forget the final round last time they were at Troon between Mickelson and Stenson. Those guys were on a different planet with Phil shooting a 65 and Stenson making 10 birdies en route to a 63 taking the Claret Jug.

Watching this morning, and I'm pretty sure I would end up in about 15 of those bunkers. Also sure that I would have no chance once in them.... Just so different than the "American style". Some of the bunkers are basically the same as hitting it into a pond, in terms of "penalty".

Damn Rory and Bryson off to horrible starts.

Has to be said that Tiger should stop.

Haven't had a chance to watch much of this yet. Had it on a few minutes the last two mornings but no real feel for the course yet. Definitely seems like feast or famine as you only have about a dozen guys under par and the rest of the field is having a time of it. Showing cut line around +3 right now. Tiger near the end of the leaderboard and honestly he really should just hang it up if this is what he is going to come to majors with. Play The Masters and maybe a few other select events but he just isn't much fun to watch anymore. If he honestly thinks he has a chance to win teeing it up at each event he's a bit delusional. I'll be tuning in as much as I can this weekend early before golf and then later when I get home. Just hoping for a few big names up there and a tight leaderboard near the top.

If his body is only going to allow him to play 4 tournaments a year, and those 4 are the hardest setups, he has no chance. I don't expect him to ever be great again, but would be nice for him to get healthy enough to make cuts, have top 20 finishes, with occasional runs at the top of the leaderboard. Sitting at +13, it feels like a year ago when he made the long birdie putt at #3 yesterday, and was sitting at -1.

Aguri Iwasaki shot 73 thursday, so inside the cut line, if played decent today. Shot 39 on the front, so needed a good back nine to make the cut. Handled the pressure well, and shot 52 on the back nine, for a smooth 91....

Included back-to-back 9's on 13 (hit 3 balls off the tee) and 14 (5 different shots out of greenside bunkers).

Monty said the same thing earlier this week and got dragged for it because not because anyone with an ounce of common sense knows its true but its “ omg Monty stfu , what have you ever won !!!! “. Tiger has earned the right to compete in these tournaments for as long as he wants and take all the exemptions he wants and nobody’s going to dispute that. Willie Mays earned the right to play for however long he wanted for any team that would have him , doesnt mean he should’ve played in 73 . Edit: All that being said , could you imagine an in his prime Tiger , slamming his trunk closed after two days carding 14 over in a major like Rory just did ?

Very tight leaderboard and a lot of people have a legit shot at walking away with the jug. Conditions were brutal yesterday so not sure what the weather will look like today. I’ll likely watch at least an hour before I head out to play.

Edit: weather looks cool and a bit of a breeze and sounds like that is what it will be today so relatively good conditions. Early coverage on Peacock right now.

Would love to see Rose or Horschel win.

Looks like some that were making a bit of a charge are starting to fall back.

I’m not able to watch until later so I’m taping the back nine. Agree with your picks, Rose would be a great champion.

Xander with 2 birdies on two of the toughest holes on the back nine. Should be a great finish.

Edit: make that 3.

Nice win for Schauffele and he obviously played great coming in. My wife and I were watching something else on DVR and when that finished I tried to switch to the golf but had left the TV on that channel when setting up the recording so saw him holding the trophy which negated any real reason to watch the back nine. Oh well. Nice way to finish up the majors. Probably won't watch a whole lot of golf the next month or so. Doubt I will watch much Olympic coverage and wait for the FedEx. They are playing the BMW in Colorado so might tune in for that since not familiar with that course and they will be hitting it a mile.

Guessing there aren't many LPGA viewers here, but they are playing St Andrews this week, and the wind is crazy this morning.

Well let’s see how many of those holes you can fill. Please report back.
