It seems like even "The Flus" is fed up with Nate "The Sabbatical" Davis.

"They've already grown tired of him. Nate Davis wasn't even that good when he did play last year. He struggled with inconsistency. If that is who he is, then what's the point of continuing this farce any longer?"

We talking about practice? Now I'm not shoving it aside, I know the importance. I do, I honestly do. But we're talking about practice, not a game.

None of the starters are playing. This hasn't been a great kept secret. I think Caleb needs as many reps as possible.

I dont really understand the mindset of not playing starters. Why would you not want to get them at least a few reps in every game? The rookies need to see some game like action

I agree. I'm sure our defense helps, but it's different when you can get hit.

you'd be first in line ripping them if an important starter got hurt "playing a few snaps"

the ravens are the only ones who give a shit about winning pre-season games

I am not talking about winning any preseason games. I do not care one bit whether they win any presason games.

But I do care that these young players they have get some reps to learn and grow and these reps cannot really come in practice.

I would understand more if the Bears were a veteran led team that understood how things go. But they aren't.

What is the difference in playing a few reps in game 2 or 3? They could get hurt there too. They can get hurt practicing too. But at some point they have to get some real reps.

It was mentioned on Mully and Haugh the other day the last starting QB to play in this game was Teddy Bridgewater (2015)

They've only been practicing in pads for a few days. I don't think it makes sense for starters to play in Game 1. I expect them to play in Games 2-4.

They wear a red shirt in practice, meaning they can't be touched. There is no red jersey in a preseason game, I'd say that's a big difference.

I agree it is a big difference and it is a reason why they need to experience that in the preseason before the actual games begin.

Honestly, I am surprised that QBs are not wearing red shirts in the preseason games.

Montez Sweat doesn't care about that jersey.

Don't give them any ideas. Before long they will be wearing them in regular season games. Already some may as well be based on calls that are made.

Maybe it has something to do with getting the body re-acclimated to the maximum effort/rest/maximum effort of playing football, and they're worried that after just a few weeks of drilling and stretching, the body isn't there yet to risk devastating injuries to big name guys?

Part of it could also be that with little game planning/scheming done for these preseason week 1 matchups, it's just like going out there for 7-on-7s, except this time it's 11-on-11 and you risk demoralizing your starting QB or reinforcing bad habits.

But to your point, with all the non-contact stuff mandated by the CBA in training camp, maybe there is a bit more to be gained by having your starters play a few more game-speed snaps during the preseason, since you're hampered doing so in camp.

They have the practice with the Bengals coming up. That may factor in. I suspect that practice will give them another reason to rest the starters.

It sucks that Bears tickets are soon going to be too expensive

Far be it from.me to bust the Football "chubby" bubble of a "Writer Bob" but that's not a completed pass in an actual NFL game. The safety obviously slowed up on the play in order to let pass get there.
If you were the "guru" that you pretend to be, you'd have known that.

It's hard to believe you would argue against clear video evidence, but here we are

In an actual game that's an easy deflection or the receiver gets laid out. But hey we could have seen this type of accuracy tomorrow if Eberflus would have played him. Guess next week...
