Someone in the administration at Colorado must have worked out the return on investment (ROI) for Coach Prime.
You always see the rosy economic impact articles about how much a sporting event/stadium will bring to a community, they surely did that before throwing all that paper at Coach Prime.
They obviously got a huge bump in season ticket sales, merch, and national exposure, but would that offset his salary, facility costs, and coaching salaries? It seems he leaves after this season and Colorado will be right back to irrelevance, so it seems a huge cost for a short period gain.
You forgot to mention donations from wealthy alumni. I know a very high wealth guy who went to CU and he has been donating a shit ton to them the last two years. Enough that he gets field passes.
Now we are getting somewhere. Did not realize this topic would prove to be a bridge too far for many posters, but there must have been a risk/reward analysis by the administration at Colorado that showed a reasonable ROI for the risk.
The clicks/likes/follows that Coach Prime brings even while losing does have some value for Colorado.
It has become quite the family business as you see one of the sons following around and recording everything which is then heavily edited and put on a social media platform which Coach Prime likely monetizes as well. The coach that said he was in this for wins and not clicks/likes was actually on to something.
