Saying that you will be better than Patrick Mahomes without ever playing an NFL down is definitely the sign of a rather "humble" guy. Right. I care far less about what a player says than what he actually does. I like what I've heard about Wiliams' work ethic, willingness to accept "hard" coaching, and overall resilience, but none of that means he's going to be any good.

However if you are going to talk the talk then you walk the walk. And the performance is nowhere near the amount of uapping that this kid has done. And even "the hard work" part might be a smokescreen. I have never met or seen a rookie player in any sport whom they have claimed "didn't work hard" while they were a Rookie. Laziness only ever seems to come out years later once they have flopped.
That's why I couldn't care less to watch Hard Knocks as most as that stuff is scripted and/or edited anyway.

And no matter what the Bears say now about Caleb being a Rookie QB who they knew would undergo the sort of "growing pains" that all Rookies undergo, it's clear that this wasn't the case before they drafted him. They expected this kid to hit the ground running. Doesn't mean be elite, but just not suck. If not then they would never have cleared the deck for him by giving Fields away for a 6th Rd pick. They have a coach (and possibly a GM too) fighting for his job and the way to save it is by trading for a QB that you expect to be ready in year 2? Makes little sense.

There is something to being humble as an athlete though. And typically when guys do nothing but talk about themselves and how great they are, it does effect the way that they play.. Whether it be them being a "me" and not a "team" guy, or their willingness to work and get better. Typically there is a correlation.

Nah guy. They've taken at least 3 shots 40 yards or more for completions that were called back due to penalty. That ain't on him. And Smith is a conservative play Caller by nature. That ain't on Fields either.

But you have him as a turnover machine that does nothing but take sacks and that hasn't really "materialized" just yet. And his current line sucks almost as much as the Bears.

Ironically enough, when people told CFMB'S "football experts" that Justin Fields sacks were mostly due to playing behind a shitty line, they told any and everyone that it was due to abstract concepts like "pocket awareness". Now that ol Caleb is getting his ears pinned back due to playing behind the very same shitty line, its now due to his having to play behind a shitty line.
