Poles has overall done a very good job at acquiring talent. Poles also only nominally hired Eberflus given he officially had the job for 2 days when the hire was done.

This is showing why guys like parkins was right to say that they should have replaced the coaching staff last year and started with a clean slate for the staff and new QB. Now Williams is going to have to switch systems again after probably 1 year.

Poles and Eberflus were a package deal because of their agent, Poles was going to hire Eberflus as HC by any team that hired Poles to be GM. It's just bad judgment from Poles, who has been a very, very lucky man to not be on a scorching hot seat right now.

Now we've got this guy shilling for Pole's horrible line. What part of "let's trade for and sign backup lineman and start them to protect our number 1 pick" is doing a good job at finding talent? Its almost like LGBTQ Time Guy stole your log in with this dumb thought. Only if he did it would be to include your pronouns in your user name.

I'm with others that if Poles was going to fire him, it would have been at the end of last season. Unless its another catastrophic year with his coaches being let go mid-season, etc., I have to guess he gets a free pass this year.

There is a big difference between firing a coach after 2 years and firing a coach after 3 years especially when there was a 4 game improvement in wins from year 1 to year 2.

Not making the playoffs would indicate little to no improvement.

That makes sense. I just can't remember many seasons like last year. The fiasco with Claypool. Two of his coaches being let go in a shroud of mystery with HR involved. Fields struggling and calling out the coaching. The epic losses to the Lions and Broncos. It felt like enough drama and failure to make the decision early.

He should have been fired mid season last year. Bears made a huge mistake not launching him in the offseason.

The OL has been his biggest failing and obviously that is maybe the most important thing to get right.

Lots of talent on the roster compared to what he inherited and even what the Bears have had since Angelo.

Poles has done an awful job of constructing a team.
Malpractice to start a rookie behind that OL..
Harbaugh was never coming here as long as Warren is around

Let the record show, that's 2023 first round pick Darnell Wrong on the ground like a chump. We pass on Vehicular Manslaughter for him.

If I have to attribute LBGTQB then you have to give me D. Wrong.

They start a first round pick at RT and a second round pick at RG. They should be able to run behind those two, even if the other's suck

Third rounder and he's been benched for a 6th round UDFA

It's a great case study.

RT: successfully cuts his guy
RG: does nothing to slow his guy down and chases him the rest of the play (didn't fall down though!)
C: the worst. Dives forward and doesn't even touch anybody
LG: barely hits someone and then falls down
LT: misses his guy, tries to block another guy and falls down

Yeah Wright gets unfairly pointed out in this deal. He actually accomplished something.

The rest of them. AWFUL.

A terrible play call, and even worse execution, the idea is for the QB to read the DE and then make the pitch or keep depending on how he reacts.

Shelton does not even chip the DT, so the DT is in the QB's face which forces him to pitch early, you ran to the weak side, so you are outnumbered on the outside, so the pitch has no chance of working. It almost looks like the TE or back lined up on the wrong side, but you center has to at least make contact with the play side DT for the play to have any chance of working.

Poles stacked the o line with guys that supposedly can move and get to the second level, the problem is that they are getting out muscled up front by every NFL team, you are very limited on what you can do offensively.

Not sure why you keep Eberflus around, he might be one of the worst in game coaches in Bears history, you would be better off letting AI manage your time outs, challenges, and making calls on two-point conversions.

Poles doesn’t get to wash himself clean of the Flus stink coming directly off an off-season where he easily could have given him his walking papers and hired another coach (like Harbaugh). It was well justified after they had to fire a coordinator in season he (Flus) was responsible for and after that terrible start to the season.

Poles has also dropped the ball when it comes to the O-line.. and that doesn’t even get into other big fuck ups by him like keeping Velus on the roster or trading picks away for players that teams are going to cut anyway.. Poles has more bad on him than good right now. The only thing that can salvage him is if somehow Caleb is great enough after enough time that he can overcome a lot of the bullshit around him in this organization.

To me, Poles dug this grave on his own and he may wind up in it soon enough.

Harbaugh was never going anywhere but to the Chargers.

The decision should have been made to hire Harbaugh as Head Coach. He would have kept Fields and harvested those draft picks and trade options into three offensive linemen, a running back and a quality wide out/tightend. Poles screwed the pooch ondraft day. He had one thing to do and he screwed it up by keeping Eberflush.

I'd be willing to bet if the Bears actually reached out to him and were serious he'd be here. We'll never know for sure, but if I'm not mistaken people close to him over the years have said Jim's dream job was to be the Bears HC. But once the dunce caps hired Warren I think it was just a non starter because Warren refused to reach out.

Poles should be out there vetting every upright “retired” guy who’s had some success on the line. If you’re big, fat, and athletic, your agent should be getting a call.

If you remove 'big' and 'athletic' theres probably a few board members that could help out here..

I think Poles plan, which was bad to begin with, was to play Ryan Bates at center and just hope Nate Davis started to care about playing football again. Once again, very poor judgment. I'd love to know when they found out Bates had an arthritic shoulder as well, that seems like a pretty big issue for an offensive lineman.
