There is likely a ton of interesting footage detailing the Bears offensive line struggles on the cutting room floor at the Hard Knocks studios. The reason why the episodes seemed so phony make perfect sense, there is no way they could have exposed the teams failures on the offensive line, it would have made Poles look like a bumbling idiot rather than the sympathetic guy they showed.

They did give him a veteran Center, he's terrible so far tho so thats a problem. I think they fucked up by not drafting someone like Zach Frazier out of WV. Yeah he's be a rookie but his early returns with the Steelers (a team that can actually evaluate talent) have been phenomenal so far. Why couldn't the Bears scouting identify that? The Steelers had been following that kid around going all the way back to the college season being live. Just draft the best rookie C and let them all grow together, thats how you rebuild a team properly.

I also think this team has a coaching problem, its been the one consistent for this O-line the last few years and it deserves a large target taped to its back at this point.

As for the last point, I dont disagree here but it would make even less sense for them to put that tape out and give even more info to potential opponents so I dont have as much an issue with it. As is I think 'Hard Knocks' is useless entertainment that can only hurt a team while not helping it in any way. Its hilarious to me that the NFL forces it on teams when its not needed at all to promote a juggernaut of a league. They should put more effort into the quality of the product on the field than the heavily manufactured version they keep pushing off of it. Just my 2 cents

Coleman Shelton was a stop gap guy, not a veteran guy that comes in and makes your line calls and helps out your young QB. There were a few of those guys available, but they went cheap at the position and they are paying for it early this season.

Why would Kingsbury come to Chicago instead of DC?
Quinn is the new HC and with that comes some job security.
Here if Eberflus gets fired Kingsbury is looking for a job after 1 season.

The McVay system is built around running play-action from under center.

Our OC is a McVay disciple who ran a lot of play-action from under center in Seattle.

Over the first three games of the season, every offensive play the Bears have run has been from the shotgun.

Why did we hire a McVay disciple to coordinate our offense if he isn't going to run the McVay system?

Because he/she/they is obviously trying make thing's easy on Caleb and do what he,/she/they used to in college. Don't you believe carries should be equally distributed amongst running back's anyway by some central ruling authority. I tell you the dumbest sport's thoughts always come from liberals.

Does it make sense to hire an offensive coordinator who excels in play-action when you aren't going to run any play-action?

Does it make sense to force a rookie to play under center when he/she/xe is not used to it?

Yup. The only thing more egregious than his football thoughts is his cowardice.

I feel like most of the veteran centers that were out there were ‘stop’ gaps tho. I don’t think there were any ‘All Pro’ or even ‘Pro Bowl’ level guys available.

My take -and I thought your take before the draft- was that they should have grabbed one of the top centers in the draft like Frazier or Powers-Johnson. I still feel that’s where they fucked up more so than going after a vet.

Either way, I think we can at least agree that yes, for multiple seasons now they have mostly ignored and fucked up this position and they’re paying for it yet again.

In that game on Sunday, it seemed to me that Williams was changing the play calls a lot that were sent in. ANyone else agree? it just seemed to me that he and Waldron aren't on the same page a lot for whatever reason??

Definitely. I don’t recall a Bears’ QB that active pre snap.

It’s possible Waldron is giving him multiple plays and letting him call it at the line, but I highly doubt they’d do that with a guy in his third game.

It would be one thing if this were the only thing wrong being just line calls. I think the guy is a bad center period as is their right guard. In fact, the over-all ability of the offensive line is a D grade as far as I am concerned.

You're right. This isn't the Chiefs and Mahomes or Rodgers and the Jets. It's a rookie qb dealing with a shitty Oline and a new OC.

Id be shocked if they were giving him that much freedom.

I hope Waldron wasn't hired because he doesn't have what it takes to be a head coach, which makes him non threatening to Eberflus. I'm still willing to be patient with him.

I wouldn't be so patient with him. Liberal's like Waldron (he comes from Seattle ffs) have socially engineered the ability to confront people out of them. He lives to walk on eggshell's because that's what modern liberalism teaches you. Hes afraid of confrontation in case he insult's the fragile eggo's of gen z. We need a hard ass here who doesn't take shit from gen z. Unfortunately that wont happen because it'll mean we need a coach who lean's conservative and that wont happen because the pronoun worshipping LGBTQ Time Guy crowd will rise up and cancel that candidate. So we're left with the guy who asks midgets to block Godzilla on pass plays.

Upon further review, Williams did run several plays under center during the Colts game, including at least one successful play-action pass and a couple other long passes, including the 44-yarder to Odunze.

This makes the commitment to the shotgun at the goal line even stranger. Instead of using Swift from the shotgun, Waldron should have used Johnson under center and ran him up the middle or faked it up the middle and bootlegged. Maybe we'll see that this week.

He's a running back. He runs from the back, he reads from the back, he doesn't take snaps under center.

I hope this facetious and a mocking of Waldron goal line play calling. If so, haha.

What? The use of Swift from a shotgun formation at the goal line--especially on an option play--was not a great idea.
