I'm not sure Justin Fields has thrown for 300 yards from the pocket in a season. I know he never did it in a game. I also know Justin Fields doesn't have the capacity to make a decision in 2.3 seconds. Hopefully, the Steelers' defense continues to give up 8 points a game.

I find this ironic considering that the Bears lone win this season came as a result of the defense
And the fact remains that he just played great and put up 20 points against one of the best defenses in the league and would have scored 27 as Tomlin elected not to punch it in from the 1 at the end of the game.

The Chargers didn't have a quarterback when the Steelers offense finally put the game away. When your defense gives up 8 points a game, you have a wide margin for error.

As I said, Fields has never thrown for 300 yards from the pocket in a game. He has as many career 300 yard passing games as Caleb does. Even with a 8 points a game defense, he can't pass for 200 yards a game. He's not even as productive as Kyle Orton was in Year 4. He's a guy.

Lombardi said what we already knew ,he is a game manager.
To his credit he is not turning the ball over .
The key is can he throw when the other team knows he is going to throw. So far the defense has not had him playimg from behind

So by "fairly quickly" you meant as early as the 2029 season. Got it

It will be obvious by year 2. Rookie years can be up and down but he will have some games that show his superstar potential.

One thing I do find interesting is Tomlin won't name him QB1 after the 3-0 start.
Why is that?
Won't name him QB1 over an injured old man on a 1yr veteran minimum contract .
Tomlin will say he is QB1 if they start 4-0...right?
Does Tomlin consider him a game manager...hmmm

He’s earned at least 8.5 starts at this point.

I can't imagine them changing things up after a 3-0 start, even if the wins were primarily because of the defense. Fields has only 1 turnover, and that's been helpful.

Fairly quickly is not year 2 in comparison to a QB who "can't propel an object forward". At least give yourself a fighting chance at being credible.

The "propel an object forward" thing is an absurd joke at Dr Styles expense.

If you had to bet money that he would not be named starter, you wouldn't. Which says all that needs to be said

Three weeks in is not the time for credibility. We’re firmly in hot take territory.

I’d draw a number line on the phases of opinionating if I were able to make that happen here.

CFMB: Your place where "Fairly Quickly" hardly means "Fairly Quickly". And I'm sure if someone were to check your file you would be on the "Fairly Quickly" express right along with Brick.
Strange thing happened with all of you "hyperbolic" Caleb guys from the summer. What's that you ask? He had to start actually playing

LGBTQ Guy thinks players should have their pronouns on their jerseys. Think about that before consuming his football takes.

I think the clear disconnect is that Bears fans want and expect more from Caleb, despite him being a more prolific pocket passer after 3 weeks than Fields has been in 3+ years. We're not building a statue for him.

So we have gone from definitively stating that Caleb is better to now arguing that he is merely "better at the same stage" in a span of what 3 weeks? Justin Fields closed that gap rather quickly didn't he?

I guess Tomlin still feels this way...maybe that will change in the coming weeks...or maybe not.

[Internally, Fowler added, the Steelers "saw Wilson hold better command of the offense than Fields in the preseason, but in Tomlin axiom, this is a moving train that Fields hopped on with both feet."]

He will be better. You know it. That's why you refuse to answer if Williams will outperform what Fields did in Chicago. You know Williams will.

No, I'm trying to help you understand the evaluation process. While Caleb's ability to read a zone defense is FAR better than what Fields or (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky have ever been capable of, that isn't enough for Bears fans. Caleb's ability to pass from the pocket and process quickly is FAR superior to what Fields is capable of, but that isn't enough. Being better than Fields isn't the bar for Bears fans. We're hunting bigger game.

As much shit as we give Waldron, I do like that Caleb is far ahead of the curve when it comes to playing quarterback. He has an understanding of zones, he's making the checks, and other things that you don't see rookies do from the start, if they ever get around to it. I don't know if that guarantees stardom, but it's encouraging.

None of this has been shown to be true. Caleb Williams has been terrible passing from the pocket. He also is terribly inaccurate..And I guarantee that Justin Fields didn't start his NFL career going 0 for 11 from 15 yards and beyond.

He hasn't named him that because he doesn't have to. Wilson is still injured. It's not that hard to figure out.
