That reads almost as bad as he sounded. He was frightened. That concerns me.

He'll be fine with practice. If Waldron actually practices this.

I know he isn’t the favorite around here but Rodgers said this week that 2 necessities of an NFL quarterback, play under center and play from the pocket.

Given the importance of play-action passing right now in the NFL, there's no getting around the imperative to play under center.

To me, that was the biggest turnaround to Love and the Packers season last year. They went more under center with play action, just draws linebackers and opens throwing lanes.

I heard someone say it forces the quarterback to think less by taking their eyes off the defense for a split second. By the time they turn around, their read of the defense is more accurate.

The issue with so many modern coordinators these days is that they want to show everyone how smart and creative they are. That leads to so much of this crap. Nagy's the worst I've seen with the Bears when it comes to that, but Waldron's early returns might be pointing in the same direction.

Sometimes you just have to line up and push the guy in front of you off his spot.

I have never heard that, when you are under center it also puts more pressure on the defense because of all the different types of action you can do with personnel and movement.

Tim Jenkins said it.. it’s an interesting theory on his end but I don’t know if it works that way for most QB’s. He seemed to be drawing off his own personal experience with that comment.

From reading/listening to scouts over the years the take has always seemed to be turning your back to the defense (on play action for example) is something that needs to be learned by young QB’s and it takes time. Center/QB snap exchange is another thing that usually needs time dedicated to it because so many QB’s play a lot of college snaps in the Shotgun.

Some quarterbacks today have never played under center, at any level.

So why has play action gone instinct on the lower levels?

They don’t play under center, you don’t have 2 back sets to set up play action. Everything in gun is based off of RPO if you are running any play action. Much deeper but short term.

I don't think the pressure on Caleb and the lack of targets of Kmet is on Waldron specifically, that's just the nature of the beast when your O-line can't block anyone. That said, beginning with the pre-season, there have been prognosticators wondering out loud what exactly Waldron's scheme is trying to accomplish. From the excessive screens and jet sweeps to the insistence on running bubble screens where the best blocker is actually the guy getting the pass. JT O'Sullivan has in multiple videos questioned/pointed out the scheming and personnel issues with how Kmet is the receiver on a screen or how multiple receivers are in the same general area at the top of their routes, etc. The red zone plays from a week ago that were all 1-on-1 fly routes from the 12 or whatever it was should have been a fireable offense.

Hampton said the WRs are gutless...won't run slants.
Defenses are pinching on the other routrs.
He said that's what is leading to the QB being indecisive.

It should be noted that some plays that we think suck is just Caleb making foolish decisions. I now know why Keenan Allen looked confused on the screen pass to Moore. It was a run play.

Caleb has to grow up. Stop with the hero ball shit and take the check downs until he gets comfortable with the NFL. Nothing will change without Caleb being better. I'm glad he publicly too accountability today.

Caleb Williams entire shtick it to just say what he knows people want to hear. He’s a true fraud. He loves to talk and tell you what he needs to do or what he’s gonna do…but he never does it.

All talk.

I guess I heard it wrong. I thought he said he wasn't going to look at the playcaller.

He said everything was on the table. When asked directly about play caller, he repeated the statement.

Based on what Caleb said, it sounds like the locker room has faith in Eberflus. That wasn't extended to Waldron.

that fucking screen while running horizontally down the line is now 0-2

there are ways for a coordinator to slow down a pass rush

It'll probably be some bullshit like relieving him of play calling duties. Then again you can never rule out the "we're in the middle of our internalized process and Shane understands that process moving forward" bullshit.
