It's open to interpretation since the 1916 A's had a worse winning percentage. Still, pennant races come and go each year, but a team this putrid only happens about two or three times a century. Maybe they'll dead-cat-bounce to like 75 wins next year. I wouldn't mind it; it's more fun when both Chicago teams are competitive, and this Oakland business has given me the fear that the home office would like to benign-neglect the Sox into Nashville so that only New York and Los Angeles have two teams. I love Chicago more than I hate the White Sox.

Not only that, if the Sox win their two remaining games, they would finish with a higher winning pct (41-121, .253) than the Mets (40-120, .250).

Detroit will try to hand these final two games to the White Sox on a silver platter.

Inside the clubhouse first hour with shill Bruce Levine and some pretty decent phone calls is a must listen.

If they are the lowest seed they play a division winner I believe? I think they need to win one if not both games to finish ahead of Kansas City because they lose the tie breaker. They would be foolish to roll over and let that happen. And hopefully they want to kick Reinsdorf in the nuts while he’s down because fuck Jerry.

Only 2 win difference Houston and Baltimore. Will be interesting if they incorporate any load management and reduced pitch counts.

Detroit is on a 3 week tear. Baltimore is a .500 team since the break. Detroit will try to win out if KC wins out.

I feel an '84 rematch with the Padres winning this time.

Tigers are awful young. I'd take them over Baltimore, not sure if it's the Astros.

thanks for the heads up vito. just listened to it. the one guy from palatine was a great caller. a real passionate caller.

I am not sure I agree with the caller that Luis Roberts has some Eloy in him. Eloy was at another level of laziness and zero work ethic. But the guy who was the biggest bum even lazier than Eloy was :

Moncada

This fucker had no shame. You could see the games where he already checked out even before the game started. He would make the dumbest errors on the field physically and mentally. At the plate, you and I could see thru the tv he didnt even care. If we could see it, the pitcher and other team could clearly see it. He put in more work in Dancing With the Stars then he ever did as a White Sox player. Fucking POS losers like him and Eloy enrage me. All the talent in the world but a rock for a brain.

And like Eloy, nobody in the clubhouse was there to call him out. Instead, they're like oh we can get away with this let's take it full to the max. there are no consequences so why not.

I thought when they hired LaRussa he would have started kicking asses but at the age he was hired, he didnt have that ass kicker left in him. I remember he chewed out one of the nobody catchers once but never the supposed big stars.

Also, lets not forget the biggest fake star on the team - Jose Abreu. Another bum. Remember that one year they were battling the twins for first place, and Jose grounded a ball to deep short and beat out the throw. The entire white sox fanbase here and other forums were posting how awesome it was HE RAN OUT A BALL! you know, something so routine that every player should do no matter their talent level. The Wsox fan reaction of Jose running out a ball was like they won the world series!

That there tells you all about the 'rebuild'.

I also remember back in 2017/2018 when Murph had his show, he use to have a whitesox farm guy on from time to time. During that time, the wsox farm system was the best in the minors, by far the best. But the guest made one comment like 'if these guys are not the best team in baseball in 3/4 years when all these guys are in the majors, then there is something really wrong'.

Now we know something is/was really wrong.

Four years after 2017, they won 93 games and the division. Then they ran into the Astros in a best of five. Maybe not the best team in baseball, but I'd say the plan worked out. Then it fell apart the next year and they decided to tear it back down again.

Saturday after clinching - Bullpen day, couple regular position players pulled early, bum McKinstry gets start. Sunday - more of the same? Get a break Tarik Skubal missing start to get ready for playoffs.

9 of last 15 vs A's & Angels and 2 Tigers mail it in games. Hit 121 (122?) even with schedule gifts.

nobody gives a shit about division wins. they were build to win multiple world series and pennants. they didnt even come close.

I know a lot of ppl hate Mike North but I think he always had a unique perspective on Chicago sports nobody else has. I caught him on a podcast maybe back in 2021 on am 1000. I think he was filling in but on that show , everyone was praising the rebuild and Hahn and how they're going to be perennial WS contenders.

North was not convinced and made a great comment/question paraphrasing : 'Why does everybody think Rick Hahn is Theo Epstein? You're telling me this guy is on Theo's level, I don't think so". Mike was right.

The plan did not work out. They were good for the first half of 2021 and mediocre for the second half of 2021. Also, you don't subject your fan base to three years of intentional losing in exchange for one division title and an embarrassing performance in the ALDS.

Shills John Schriffen, Steve Stone and Bruce Levine enhanced a magical year.

Reaching #121 was the zenith of '24.

But, Sox fans booing a win was great too.
