Fields has thrown for more yards on 40 fewer attempts and avg 2 yards more per completion than Caleb and also has a higher completion % yet Caleb "can throw" and Fields cannot. Ok
Why won't Tomlin let Fields throw?

He's throwing for more yards on 40 Fewer attempts than Caleb

He was better when he wasn't allowed to think. You couldn't run a 2 minute offense the entire game or allowed him to call his own plays.

I mean he either earned the rating or he didn't by running the plays that were called. They also won the game. I'm not sure what the measuring stick in this town is anymore.

The proper analysis is to discount actual, real life positive plays while also adding in hypothetical negative plays.

They won the game because they stopped letting Williams lose it for them the way he did in the first half against the Rams and the entire games against the Colts, Titans and Texans.

It's clear that Waldron and Eberflus had an epiphany yesterday and realized that they are fighting for their gigs this year. Thus the "gunslinger Caleb" routine that they have been running the first 3 weeks had to be scrapped.

So it's the play calling and not the QB? Got it.

If the Bears stuck with the first half gameplan of Caleb Williams stalling drives on third down with his weak arm and stupid brain they lose that game.

Doesn’t seem to be an issue for Jayden Daniels. Wasn’t an issue for CJ Stroud last year. Two guys the Bears had every opportunity to draft.
Huh? You asked why Williams isn't allowed to throw. Williams is throwing about 10 more times a game than Daniels.

Well yeah that’s because of one game where Williams’ shitty play is what lost them what should’ve been easy W against the Colts.

Like I said in another thread -there is nothing Williams can do for them at this point. If he does something positive it’s because the coach changed something or the receiver made a great play.. if it’s bad? All Caleb.

They’re just invested at him being bad at this point.

They called a pass play deep in the red zone in the 3rd quarter with a single point lead. In the 4th quarter, still up only 2, they called a play with only deep route concepts on 2nd and 10 while on their own 42.

The both of you are either being a little dishonest in your analysis or you don't know that much about football.

Charlie Batch had a better statistical (Record, Rating, INT count, CMP%, Y/A) season than Peyton Manning in 1998. Matthew Stafford wasn't as good as Mark Sanchez in Year 1. Sure, you'd like your 1.1 QB pick to be great from Year 1, Game 1 on, but that's just not very realistic, and they may even be out-performed early on by some of their draft peers. And though it is way too early to tell, even if it is an Elway-Marino thing where the truly better QB was taken later in the draft, wouldn't you still take John Elway?

Stick to Caddying Tee Time. You stupidly think Caleb has a "gun" based on nothing besides your rather inane observations.

The mere fact that he went from 52 passes one week to 23 the next is evidence that they just might be "dialing it back some". Particularly so given that they were avg 39 passes through the first 3 weeks of the season

It's actually considered a "great investment" at this point to be honest.

Considering that they threw 30 fewer passes than they did the previous week I'd say yes.

Or ( and stay with me here ) they didn’t need to throw it 50 times because for the first time this year the running game was working ?

I find it funny that the difference between expectations of the Fields Cult and Williams fans. The throw Williams made to Kmet yesterday ( over the LB , in front of the safety) has barely been mentioned ( and I’ve always been of the mind that those are the throws a first round qb should be EXPECTED to make so no, they’re not that big a deal when they happen ) whereas the Fields Cult always thought that he turned water into wine and bleat on and on bout how that meant he was epic !! on the rare occasion he made those throws.

When you're throwing it 50 plus you aren't exactly allowing it to work

1. Google "Caleb Williams arm strength rating" and see what comes up. MANY people grade his arm strength as top-tier, and there's even some mph numbers from his QB coach.

2. They weren't behind schedule as much because the running game was more effective. They faced 12 situations of 2nd and 7+ against the Rams and 18 against the Colts. Not to mention there were nearly 30 fewer offensive plays this week.

the caleb williams is bad people can just keep digging themselves in. Provided he stays healthy (an if) he'll either be great here or somewhere else. Daniels was predicted in some circles to potentially have a better first year than Caleb. He's a great talent who's more of a finished project but is playing with worse WR but much better RB's and either a better OL or coordinator or both. Can't tell yet on the last.

I will say the height is going to be a problem. They are going to have to invest a ton in G-C-G just like the Saints did with Brees back in the day.

Caleb should dial back the enthusiasm while celebrating with fans who paid hundreds to thousands of dollars to see him play. You find a new line of attack from the Caleb haters every week. #CalebCode

Strange part about that is this very relevant point Tee Time. When he had a chance to be "graded" at the combine by NFL personnel he punted.

The Justin sucks and is "never going to be more than a backup" crowd has now morphed into the "we always knew that Justin was going to be better at this point because he is a 4th year guy being measured against a Rookie" in a span of 3 weeks

It is clear that Waldron and Eberflus have no confidence in their offensive line being able to block.

What's Fields excuse in PITT for his coaching not letting him air it out?

So your evidence, which Trumps both the eye test and talent graders and even radar gun data, that Caleb Williams doesn't have at least very good arm strength is...that he didn't throw at the combine? How very academic of you.
