I agree. The offensive line looked better in the second half but the drop in performance is concerning.

Braxton Jones has really fallen off. He's gotten bullied this season. Wright seems lost.

I thought it was crazy to just hand Braxton Jones the job last year. I get that he was an encouraging rookie, but they didn’t even challenge him. He’s never shown enough on the field to justify the faith the Bears put in him.

Coaching imo.. which is sort of weird considering they retained the O-line coach but.. the scheme has changed and maybe they don’t fit so well in Waldrons scheme

I wouldn’t rush to judgment on that. Punter might have not wanted the extra five yards, some of these Australians want to be closer in so they can put more hang on it.

He burned a timeout in a one score game with the ball going to the rams

Grumpy Dolphin, the time out was meaning, my friend. The Rams needed a touchdown in less than 70 seconds and they didn't have any timeouts.

I'm encouraged by what I saw from the offense. That's something they can build on. Leave Kramer at fullback on some passing downs.

Good dolphin, I was wrong about Kmet. It's about time I admit that. He can be a top 3-5 tight end with improved quarterback play. His signing was a bargain.

It's a good win. The team looks like the 8.5 win group the market predicted. They are getting better but Waldron simply isn't maximizing the talent.

Whose cherrios did Khalil Herbert and Tyler Scott piss in?

Schedule gets tougher during the back half of the season and the losses will pile up. I doubt seriously if they go .500 this season

Right now, they look like they will finish last in the North.

While I realize my canadicy for Pope is hobbled by the facts that I am from the US and not presently a cardinal, I do note that three of the next five Bears games are away from Soldier Field. I fear they will have trouble winning any one of them let alone all three.

Aren't you going to London? Maybe that was someone else. You don't think London and Arizona will be home games for the Bears?

London is technically a Bears home game.

I wish I was going. I talked about it but since we went last time my wife talked me out of it. Saving the powder for potential Spain game next year.

And yes, while it is technically a home game and they will have plenty of fan support, the fact that Jacksonville plays two games a year there makes them much more familiar with the process. Being Ebeflus's first international trip as a HC, I don't fully trust him to prepare his team as well as Jacksonville will be.

The All-22 has Caleb looking gun shy a couple of times. Jenkins and O'Sullivan torch him for it. O'Sullivan repeatedly torches D.J. Moore for effort, route running, and skill. He also thinks Keenan Allen is extremely slow and kills plays with his lack of speed.

Flus did his whole “number one priority is to take care of the ball schtick” this week. Is that the cause of the caution?

Jenkins described the first miss as an option that's usually never open but ended up open. The problem is Caleb appears to look at Rome and still settled for the check down. They eventually scored a touchdown on the drive.

The other miss could have been a timing issue, but Rome was still open even after Swift ran into Caleb. He has to throw that pass. IIRC, his check down led to another first down and they scored on that as well.

Ultimately, it didn't cost the Bears, but it was a bad look, even with the check downstairs leading to first downs.

Edit: His last run should have been a screen pass to Keenan Allen, but Caleb took the safer hero ball run.

He missed DJ getting wide ass open too on that over throw to Rome in the end zone.. tho to be fair Caleb was already looking right and releasing the ball when DJ was getting open.

This is all stuff that should come up in the film room, the good news is there are guys getting open like that occasionally -Calebs just gotta see it and make the play. Still, it was only a couple instances where as Mitch and Justin were missing those 5 to 6 times a game.

Only game 4 and this was the 1st time we saw Caleb ‘manage’ a game and help the team get a win. Even vets have to do that stuff once in a while so it’s good to see so early here. It’s not easy to win in the NFL, and a game like this goes in the ‘learning how to win’ category

I think the miss of Odunze on the botched play action play was Williams being worried about protecting the football. He started to bring the ball back to try to hit Rome even after the RB miscue but the roaming linebacker scared him. He was looking that way right out of the box so I think he would have hit him had he not had to sidestep his own teammate.

The other miss to Odunze on the deep post was all on Caleb. He should have seen the safety was flat footed as Rome was running by and recognized he'd be wide open. Looked like he read that Kmet would be open and made the decision immediately. That should get shored up in film.

Other than that I don't think there were any other non-targets of receivers that were some form of open. The overthrow of DJ on the delayed go looked more like improvising on a bad play than a clever route design. But then again DJ was half assing a lot out there so maybe that was the design and he just looked like he was lazily improvising. In that case it was a poor throw but it's not like he didn't think to target him.

Let's call it 3 misses then, one of a guy who was about to be wide ass open for an easy chunk or even TD. Compared to the repeated refusal to throw to open receivers over the middle by the previous QB, these misses by a guy in his 4th NFL game are acceptable, I think.
