Necessary in June but not during Bears season.

There was about ten minutes of content generated by NOT doing the outing. Which is appropriate IMO.

I've not kept on my notes - is your role here to be the modern day Mike North? Be the contrarian, no matter what the topic?

You think Larry would have been more likely to go if it were June? Most likely doesn't matter the time, he's a little B and probably not interested because it wasn't his idea.

These two are getting along fine. They are very similar personalities. Holmes had a tease for some baseball memorabilia he wanted to show Spiegel and they both genuinely bonded over it.

I suppose the question is when these two similar personalities do clash how bad will it get?

That segment about Larry's signed copy of the Dowd report was actually pretty good.

Agreed! They both are nerds, love baseball, and have inflated self importance over their history with the station

I know it's early, but something just seems "off" on this show. What little I've listened from 5-6 on drive home
here and there. I haven't heard Shane or Tanny once. I'm guessing Shane is pissed and feels neutered. The conversation
between Larry and Grimace seem forced and trying to prove, "look at us, we do like each other and get along".
Part of the fun of the previous show was how they could all gang up on Parkins and make fun of him, he would play
along, and self-ridicule . I'm waiting for the first time they try that with Holmes, it will all blow up. Holmes didn't do the
Vegas trip, doesn't do the group sox games, he's not into the sophomoric humor that has made many WSCR shows good.
I see his promotion here as a mistake. WSCR isn't the Make a Wish Foundation, they never should have promoted Larry as a reward....
Time will tell I guess. :?

Somebody said it best. They're both trying hard, at the start of this thing, to say, "WE LIKE EACHOTHER". Which is painfully obvious. And they don't.

I'll say this. Larry likes the switch as it's better then being with Bernstein from his perspective. Spiegel hates it. But at the end of the day, it's just talking sports. So there is really no need for the two to like each other. I have to pretend to like my brother in law. Be friendly with him. Have some bullshit conversation at holidays and birthdays. Everybody is in that situation.

It's gonna reach a point where they're not screaming from the mountain top that they like each other. And just do the fucking show. My guess is that Waddle and Silvy will gain on this show over what "Parkins and Spiegel" had.

You're right about Shane. He can't say the shit he used to say cuz Larry is there. He knows it.

Spiegel's effeminate speaking style and Larry's arrogance make for a combination that's a rough listen.

Spiegs is the one on air person at the station who has seen unemployment, and he isn't going back

Right. I think last week he had to go with his son to a high school open house. He is probably about to get some St. Ignatius level tuition bills.

IMO, Spiegel has the second most annoying voice/delivery of regular Score hosts ever after Murph. He's a rough listen no matter who the partner is.

Holmes having zero sense of humor about himself doesn't work with the other three or really with anyone. It's like trying to play a basketball game where you can't pass to one player of the team under any circumstances, can't win like that.

I haven't been able to listen that much the last week, but the times I have listened I have heard Shane several times. I don't think Shane is someone who is going to stay quiet. He is needy to have his voice out there no matter who is the host.

He hasn't been quiet but I've heard him apologize more than once because a joke didn't land and it was clear he thought he may have hurt Larry's delicate feelings.

my god, does he believe in healing crystals too?

from wikipedia:
Quote:
A Delphi poll of an expert panel of psychologists rated EFT on a scale describing how discredited EFT has been in the field of psychology. On average, this panel found EFT had a score of 3.8 on a scale from 1.0 to 5.0, with 3.0 meaning "possibly discredited" and a 4.0 meaning "probably discredited.

The armies know Shane is an ally, and he is being used for hallway chatter in the storylines. Of course, anonymous sources. He has also been helpful in providing context and clarity about the interpersonal relationships among the hosts.

This is the issue. I feel while it is important to take your work seriously, it is also equally important to not take yourself too seriously. Some people never learn the difference.
