I would say the ROY is a dead heat now. Daniels has the edge in yards and completion % but Caleb has more TD's and big plays. Given momentum I would say this race is over and Caleb is the winner by mid November.

It's still not close. Daniels is #3 QBR, Caleb is #26. Plus, LIKE IT OR NOT, he's been bumslaying for three games.

He couldn't get it done in the 4th against a below average defense yesterday. His overall numbers though were great.

ESPN does a last 5 game split. We know voting has a recency bias

I don't even know why we're talking about it. Game 10 is when all the laundry starts getting sorted.

Redskins played 13th toughest schedule to date, they play the easiest schedule (based on games played to date) going forward.

Bears played the 32nd toughest schedule to date (out of 32 teams), Bears have toughest schedule going forward.

Image

Bears were facing 2nd most difficult schedule going forward before clearing Jacksonville this week. Clearing Jaguars off their schedule moved Bears schedule to toughest remaining.

Jayden Daniels has been a significantly better player against significantly better competition and truthfully this comparison is not even remotely close.

I would contend it would be hard to be significantly better than what Caleb Williams did last week- 4 TDs and a high completion percentage. Correct his competition has been crap, but he has shown linear week to week improvement.

Aside from the stats though, he is identifying the open receiver, moving well in the pocket or fleeing, and making a lot of nice throws. He also has been good at audibling and running a no huddle offense. There is a lot to be bullish on.

isn't that baked into early season success in college vs ranked opponents / rivalry games later on

It's been a bit of an odd scheduling quirk. The 1st 2 games of the year were against teams in the top 1/2 of the league in pass defense (based on QBR). The last 4 were against teams ranked 25th, 32nd, 29th and 30th. The next 2 are currently 31st and 28th. The only above avg Pass-D they face going forward is in the North and against the 49'ers. (We'll see how Detroit fares without Hutchinson).

It's been "cupcake city" for Our guy Caleb since week 2. But hey he's "improving" or so I've repeatedly being told

Could yiu you imagine what Caleb Williams record would have been last season had he played in a real conference like the Big Ten? Probably why he declared for the draft last year

Hey now, give Miller Time Moss a chance to play an entire season. He's currently 10-4 for his career, spread out over 4 seasons of until-this-season spot starts.
2 of his losses this year coming in 2+ time zone games that even tOSU and Michigan have yet to crack the code on how to travel and win.

O-line and HC optional vs Rams, Panthers, Jaguars relaxed defenses.

Patriots and Washington might be only a few spots away from the bottom in rank, but Jacksonville almost laps them in terms of how much worse their defense is. Defensive DVOA = the last column:

ltg has a very, very impressive streak still in tact. He is wrong again.

A black man rooting against the black QB for the team he supposedly loves. What a sad way to exist as a sports fan.

They’re about even rn imo. Daniels throws a better deep ball, Caleb is better in the red zone. Both are fairly accurate overall but Caleb is being asked to do more and is handling more complex schemes and reads..

Both teams have ‘bum slayed’ so nit picking that is pointless -you play who’s on your schedule and most rookie QB’s struggle even against bad opponents so they get high remarks from me there. Gonna be a helluva fun game between the two in a couple of weeks.

I'd take Daniels right now over Williams but I also don't think Daniels can survive long term running as much as he does. Lamar Jackson has been relatively injury free but Jackson seems to be better built for the punishment though he has lost weight this year.

Truly nobody outside of Bears fans or people with sociopolitical motives would say Williams is even remotely close to Daniels.

Make Daniels play quarterback in the pocket. In addition to his tendency to throw the ball to the right, he gets happy feet if his first and 2nd read aren't open.

To be objective, Williams hasn't played against good teams while Daniels has. GB, Minnesota, and the Lions I say are going to present a much more difficult challenge to Williams as well as several other teams in the Bears remaining 11 games. We will see then how Williams and Eberflush cope with the better level of opponents.

I doubt Daniels will last as a quarterback. He really is thin and I wonder about his ability to survive some big hits.
