Why can’t he speak in complete and coherent sentences? The ups and ups and again and stammering is a sign of some serious issues. He was an average writer turned below average broadcaster and comes across as someone who doesn’t really like sports or care and is just putting in time until he can retire. He must be close to 65. He seems disinterested and appears to like all things Europe and soccer. He really offers nothing interesting or funny or smart. I guess he is willing to get up at 3:00 AM to put in his time and Mitch welcomes that. It doesn’t matter that he is awful. People will listen. The Bears pre and post is even worse. He is completely disconnected and just stammers through. I’m thinking he must have some medical issues. While I find him a terrible communicator, I hope he is ok.

Please tell me you’re not pegging Haugh at 200lbs.

At what weight would you be willing to peg him?

You put me in a box here and I’m not sure what to do.

I like him. He has a no frills show that gives you what you need for early drive time. I'm out of the car by the time he has interviews so I don't hear that side.

I did see a youtube of him without his usual hat on. He is almost entirely bald now, with bushy eyebrows. Weird look but we all get old.

Given Bernstein's precipitous decline, the implosion of the afternoon show, and the ascendance of a marginal talent like Marshall Harris, Mully is the best host currently at the station.

While he's clearly suffering from sleep deprivation-induced brain damage, Mully still possesses the faintest traces of a fertile sports mind, which places him several notches above whoever is second best at the station.

This is the only show on the station I can still handle listening to - and it's a challenge most mornings, as Haugh is just the worst. If he's not doing a McDoink-like long sigh before offering a remedial opinion he's tripping down the verbal hill where he feels the only way to right himself is to make a list of words that start with the same letter(s) "I mean, the Bears need to regroup, rethink and reconsider what they're doing". Mully has (d)evolved into that annoying yet somehow likable uncle at the holiday dinner table. He says the same thing over and over again, repeats someone else's thought(s) multiple times or dusts off a "I remember back when..." story from his newspaper days.

It does seem like there is a cognitive decline with him, though - while he's always had laughably long and meandering 'questions' (that never actually result in a question), they seem to have gotten worse and he often starts to throw to break at the wrong time or attempt to tease a segment that's not, in fact, coming up next. They both do their fair share of misspeaking (only outdone by their knuckle dragging moron of a producer), but the volume produced by Mully has certainly increased. Hopefully he's ok and it's just general aging to blame, but he definitely exhibits some troubling signs (odd, open-mouthed, mechanical laugh is specifically something I've noticed a lot more in the past couple of years of tuning in).

Anyway, interesting to see this posted as I've wondered about it myself. Maybe he'll choose to retire and they can drag Hanley's puns back to the morning to pair up with Haugh and their idiot producer? ;) "It's Mully and Hanley, I man Mully and Haugh, errr Hanley and Haugh in the morning..."
