It is pretty frustrating seeing what Poles has done and not done with all that cap space when you look at a team like Buffalo. One of the narratives of the offseason was that Buffalo had to shed money and get rid of some players and their window might be closing. Now it appears they had a pretty good plan. Their OL has some bulldozers on it and they are rolling along still. And Poles still sits here with no OL help

Pretty crazy how you can get a windfall like the Bears got and still be such a profoundly mediocre (perhaps even downright bad) football team. The NFL hasn’t jumped on the anti-tanking measures bandwagon for a reason…it just doesn’t work. You can have the Bears picking first overall every year for five years and I don’t think they’d really ever get any better. The issues go deeper than that.

The Bears picked Eberflus over Quinn, the choice made very little sense at the time and makes even less sense now as you see the massive gulf in coaching talent between them.

Eberflus looks like he needs a coaching babysitter who has to frequently re-orient him, or just turn off his headset and let an intern enter the scenario into the computer and have AI give the most logical play, tell the OC what to run, and then just say, "aww shucks Matt, what a bad time for your headset to go out". You would save time outs, manage the clock better, and likely get play calls with a much higher probability of success than you get from Eberflus or the OC, as AI would factor in the inability of certain guys on the o line to run plays and would be free of the irrational belief that Poles and Eberflus have in guys they choose to start.

Eberflus has serious limitations as a HC that will lose you games, he ain't getting any better and you may as well cut bait now as he will continue to lose you games. The NFL is far too competitive to have a HC that is going to lose you 1-2 games each year because he cannot figure out how to manage the clock and his time outs.

He's had four losses that should be totally disqualifying for a HC in the NFL. His answer when asked if he understands the logic behind handing the ball to an undrafted FA olineman with zero career carries with a game on the line was "it's a one yard play". He hired Getsy and Waldron. We know what Eberflus is : an overpromoted DC and not even a great DC at that. If Poles can't see that, his career will be much shorter as well. Get Eberflus out of here the second the season ends. It's over.

They won’t hire him. They’ll get a search firm and then make the special snowflake “nobody saw it coming” hire like they always do. Maybe if he were black or gay or something you could get George excited about him but nah, you can pretty much give up hope.

Eberflus enters the last year of his contract next year so this will come to a head at the end of the year. He either gets extended or fired.

"Winning the press conference" has ruined a generation of Bears fans. Tomlin and Belichick are gruff and elusive even when they suck, whereas Nagy and Trestman had an answer for everything.

Coming out undisciplined and flat after a bye is more telling than press conference performance, as is the undisciplined fighting of the opponent and taunting opposing fans on thr field. It's not almost-open-rebellion like at the end of the John Fox era, but seeing these things with a team that has such promise is troubling.

But can ownership be convinced to pay a marginally-winning 2024 Flus to go away if a hotshot OC wants the job and can't be hired away laterally?

They brought Eberflus in to fix the grab ass culture the team had under Nagy.

We had the HITS crap early on where he was going to "hold people accountable", it seems the wheels have come off and we now have guys grab assing again and some are actually being asked to be "coached harder".

When you bring in a guy to bring you from point A to point B and you are devolving back to point A it is time to pull the plug.

Would like them to bring in a red ass guy that would demand the attention of the team, but that does not seem to fit the soft no cussing culture the McKaskey family want to project for the team.

The clock is ticking on your rookie QB contact clock, you need to make a run within the next few years and you cannot have your piss poor HC decisions losing you games.
