15 pitchers to get 54 combined outs. 3 and 1/2 hours of men more or less standing in place. It should be played on a loop in MLB headquarters to remind those in charge how unwatchable the game is when played like that.

There were actually a couple close plays at the plate. The biggest problem with last night's game is that the Yankees were never really in it. I wonder if Boone is going to pay for this World Series failure with his job?

Are you considering the Stanton out at home a “close” play? Just because there is a throw home and a guy slides doesn’t make the play close. You could have thrown out Stanton on that play.

If I were an ump, I’d call any pitch that didn’t hit Rizzo - and some that do - a strike.

Look I want baseball to be as exciting as anyone, but I’m not going to look at an obviously unexciting product and try to find manufactured excitement.

There were 10 total his in the game yesterday, exactly zero were consecutive.

There were fifteen pitchers used in the game yesterday exactly zero are of any consequence other than their ability to throw a sweeper 25 pitches in a row to get out three batters.

18 outs were by strikeout. There were 12 total walks.

Like I said, game three was essentially 3 and 1/2 hours of watching one guy throw sweepers while 9 and sometimes 10 other guys stood still. It is unwatchable.

The most interesting play in baseball is the contested play at the plate. That play was contested enough that you weren't entirely sure about the outcome until it happened.

You're right about the pitching changes, but "men more or less standing in place" is endemic to the game. Even if there were more balls in play, you're still going to have that. A closely contested game sands down most of the rough edges you highlighted.

if you just accept baseball has become more like golf/tennis than say football then you'll be at peace. that's what I have done.

Outside of LA/NY nobody is watching this unless you're a baseball fan which is comparable to the stanley cup finals where only the team city's fans are watching.

And nowadays with baseball having it's own vocabulary with WAR and other acryonms that no regular person other than stat nerds give a shit about, it's going to get even worse as an invisible sport.

Come to accept these facts and you'll be happy with the game.

We are the new NHL.

Standing around is endemic to 2024 baseball. In 1990 each team K’ed 5.5 times a game, we are at 8.5 per game in 2024. Essentially 1/3 of the outs are standing. To get that many more K’s you are willing to go deeper into counts. Pair that with a pitcher an inning and you have every pitcher vs every batter devolving into a hunt for a K. If you think baseball has always been like this YouTube a game from 1987.

Not for nothing but balls in play = not standing around.

I’ll never actively support a Los Angeles team but it is nice seeing the Yankees blow a five run lead at home.

Also, pitch clock should not be a thing in the World Series.

Better team by far wins.

Yankees shit defense costs them 2 games in this series.

Tonight was an epic collapse giving 4 extra outs to a team like the Dodgers.

Catch catch a routine fly ball and pitcher forgets to cover first on a routine inning ending ground out to first.

AL was so weak this year. Hard to believe a shit defensive team like the Yankees made it to the WS. They may not make it again for another 15 years.

The Yankees have 3 ex-Cubs I believe. Rizzo, Torres, and Mark Leiter, Jr. 4 if u count the injured Lemahieu.

Once again, the ex-Cub factor holds.

Rizzo, Torres, and Leiter, Jr. prevented the Yankees from winnin' the World Series. Add in injured Lemahieu and advisor Bully Hendry. They didn't stand a chance.

Now I’d like for the dodgers to go away.

Yes

But admit it. We all kinda jealous. Wish the cubs had the balls to spend a billion dollars to win a WS

That was a bizarre play. I have no idea why Cole stopped running.

Baseball is better when the Yankees are good. We all need a team to hate. The Dodgers are gaining ground quickly in that department.

I got the answer on the 1st base grounder. A spinner that took a left turn. Had it been a regular GB it would have been scooped up on the way to the bag unassisted. Cole even pointed at it after he prematurely gave up on covering.

Here's a nice view of the ball traveling.

Bully Hendry was downed yet again.

By a bizarre Bartman-like inning of unbelievable divine happenings.

That makes 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2024 as some of his colossal failures.

That ball looked like it was headed left before Cole gave up on covering. Cole has got to stay with that play until he's certain Rizzo is going to get to the bag.

I had to take a closer look because I couldn't figure out why Rizzo wasn't charging it and I was wondering why Cole was pointing. Now I know why.

It's still all Judge's fault. The 5 unearned are on him. Volpe's error was not as egregious, it was his only play, and Cole got fooled. Not excuses, just ranking the 3 outs that weren't made.

Yup. That ball was cued off the end of the bat and had a ton of side spin. There was no way Rizzo could attack that ball. That was 100% on Cole.
