The pet angle is what gives the story its bite amongst Americans but at its core what makes this scary is that its yet another exhibit of a seemingly benign and powerless state-level bureaucracy arbitrarily deciding to break into this guy’s house and cause him distress for seemingly no reason. People want to believe that if they keep their heads down this kind of thing won’t happen. That there are bigger fish to fry and they can stay under the radar.

The reality is a bit more muddled. I don’t think people quite understand what they are up against and the types of people who constitute these agencies. They are ugly people with bad motives and they want you to at least be afraid of them. Some of them want to hurt people and use their office to do it.

Democrats like making things nutless. You really have to wonder what their motivation is. I would agree with the government that you don't want everyone to be taking in wild animals as pets. However if someone runs a Farm Animal Sanctuary, the animal has not exhibited signs of rabies for 7 years, and was in the process of filing paperwork to get the animal certified as an educational animal it's pretty wild that they'd seize it and kill it so quickly. Why not just kill all the animals there?

Coupled with how big of a mess NY is, as if they don't have larger problems, it's pretty shitty. But Democrats are going to Democrat.

I don't live there any more but New York was likely my favorite place I have lived. I didn't have a pet raccoon though.

The raccoon was found a few months ago. They were rehabbing it and going to release it.

It looks like they been involved with this type of thing for over 20 years. I'd assume they had some sort of vet that they worked with.
