He sucks. And his skill set, diminished as it is, is not unique from the younger better players.

Send him back to a low cost state like Cali for a 6th rounder.

I agree. Caleb feels obligated to get him the ball and he's usually not open.

He's also dropping a lot of passes.

Bad paper and yes I would trade him in and pass for the private airfare.

Every player on the last year of his deal should be traded. Even if a miracle occurs and the season turns for the better against the harder part of the schedule, four teams aren't making the playoffs out of the north. Herbert and Allen should be able to be moved.

On the good side of the ledger, I do feel like Rome has grabbed that second WR spot more than Allen has lost it. He hasn't been perfect but he looks very good.

He definitely has "the knack" of getting open.

Trading him would seem like bailing on the season and at 4-4.. they’re not going to do that.

As fans we can view this shit storm any way we want to, but trading any players they view as key or important just isn’t going to happen right now.

The Steelers still need another one.

Allen has done what smart receivers do: he has become Caleb's best friend and big brother. Caleb looks for him too much though. That's problematic because he's injured or washed.

Let's try an entire game of the OC playing him in the slot where he belongs.

Bingo. Before I point a finger at the QB(although the accuracy issues are very concerning), we have to point 7 fingers at the OC. He really is awful.

Who the hell does Waldron expect him to outrun playing on the outside?

Guess it depends on if you see the Bears as buyers or sellers, they only have one more winnable game on the schedule, why not flip Allen, Davis, and Herbert for picks and cap relief?

Could see Poles throwing away draft capital to save the season, but you are not going to trade for five new starting offensive lineman at the deadline, that ship sailed in the offseason, so why not pick up a few resources you can use to shore things up next season.

You are also likely launching your entire coaching staff, seems Poles will have to do that to save his job, but you really have to question how a guy that was given tons of resources failed to address his offensive line and protect his potential franchise QB, does not seem like there are any adults in the Bears front office, just a bunch of idiotic yes men and women.

I feel like you and I have been pretty consistent in our criticism of Poles for awhile now. What bothers me is he’s the guy hiring the next guy.. but he hired Eberflus essentially twice. I have zero faith in Ryan Poles being able to pick the next coach with any real chance of it leading to success as a team.

This franchise should have gone after Harbaugh with everything they had after last season. And they didn’t, because they’re stupid.

I haven't heard about Klint Kubiak in a while. Did he die?

Many of us have been openly questioning the teams approach to roster construction, particularly the interior of the offensive line, it becomes especially frustrating when you see guys they easily could have drafted starting at center for other teams.

Poles likes the outside zone run scheme, and goes with smaller guys that he feels can run well enough to work in that scheme, but his undersized guys are getting blown up at the point of attack which ruins any offense, you pair that with what looks to be degression from both tackles and you have the trainwreck we are seeing on Sundays.

None of this should be a surprise, thought Jurko had the best take on the odd approach Poles took to roster construction when he said the Bears bought all kinds of fancy new drapes, but ignored the foundation.

This is really not fixable and you do not exactly have young offensive lineman that are trending upward, in fact, marginal roster guys are coming in and outplaying our younger guys.

Why bother?

Poles gonna draft another Poles for the line?

the misuse of him was criminal

He's limited because of his pass blocking but he's a hard runner who gives you full effort and 4.5 ypc.

Some of you are business owners or in leadership positions. That reality is one I struggle with when I read MANY of your thoughts on team development. "WHY ISN'T _____ HAVING IMMEDIATE SUCCESS? WE MUST CHANGE COURSE IMMEDIATELY! FIRE THAT PERSON!"

I think people reflect their frustrations out on their favorite sports team because they couldn't just fire someone at their job. In the real world it's not that simple to fire someone. You need to get HR involved, document everything and make sure legal signs off on the firing. Then you have to start over at that position and interview and train a new hire and hope it works out. Fire too many people and your hiring skills get called out. Just like a GM that drafts and signs bad players and coaches. It's easy for us to say change course immediately to our sports teams. We have zero responsibilities to the team and no personal investment to the players.

last year, until his heel fell off, the guy was on pace for probably 130-1500-8.... might be tough to go from that level of production to whatever his current role for the bears is. he's also used to having competent QB play where he's the primary read. it seems like he's running routes at 75% effort.

This is a weird false equivalency by you. There’s pretty much no where I can think of where someone can suck at their job and underperform for 3 years straight and retain that position.

I have a feeling Allen is getting the ball so much because he runs the right routes (Rome) and doesn't jog (DJ). Sad, isn't it?

But now Caleb is turning into savior mode and looking to chuck the ball long every time, so Allen will likely see less anyway.
