Why isn't he fired yet? That was dog shit effort and even worse coaching.

Because it’s not his fault.

The defense is playing fine. The running game works about as well as it could under the circumstances. The special teams has generally been pretty good.

You just have a quarterback who you cannot bench who plays like a fifth rounder, fucks with play calls and generally just does everything completely wrong. If Eberflus were continuing to play him under his own volition it’d be one thing, but we know that there is a mandate from Tanesha Wade that Williams must play every down.

The Bears are not firing a coach they can control. Bring in a new guy who wants to showcase himself? He might play Bagent and we see just how worthless Caleb Williams actually is and what a DEI disaster it was to draft him first overall.

Not sure which is a worse take from you. It is not on Eberflus or the White Sox are a couple players away.

Eberflus' post game press conference pretty much gave the same answer for each question asked. He's got 2 years left on his contract after this year and after that he'll always be working if he gets fired. So now it's just going through the motions treading water.

Team has no enthusiasm and spark.

It's a mess. But, common in Chicago pro sports teams becoming nearly unwatchable.

Why did they give Eberflus a five-year contract? He was not a hot prospect. He was the defensive coordinator for some mediocre Colts teams that won maybe one playoff game. This team, I swear.

I don’t want to do a look back right now, but wasn’t this an ass backwards process where they hired Poles and gave him a list of like two people to choose from as his coach?

no doubt Bears were hoping Waldron would work the same magic with Williams like he did with Geno.

Prior to taking over as OC in Seattle in 2021, Waldron was the Rams passing game coordinator and QB coach from 2019 til Seattle. Goff's QBR peaked the season before Waldron assumed the QB handler role for the Rams and proceeded to decline each season under Waldron, until the Rams paid a draft pick in compensation to send Goff to the Lions for Stafford.

Bobby Slowik or Brian Griese would be good choices for a QB whisperer, based on Brock Purdy and CJ Stroud's performance.

Or maybe these QB's need to broken down and desperate to hang on in the league, so they'll take the coaching.

"We're less than 24 hours after the game," Eberflus said. "We're in the process of that. ... Again, there's gotta be a change and adjustment to what we're doing because we obviously lost three in a row. ...

"There will be changes, adjustments being made. I'm not gonna disclose those right now. I'm not at that point in the process."

Monday's a long day in terms of the evaluation of everything, in terms of lineup, in terms of coaching in terms of how we need to do better in that coaching," Eberflus said Monday. "... It's important that we take time to make those decisions and make the right decisions for the Bears."

The professionalization of coaching/managing brought about by the statheads has resulted in press conferences now sounding like an HR seminar. Thanks a lot, nerds.

I find it hard to believe as well, but lest we forget the "Coaching to not get fired" phase of Bears Hell, where even more silliness abounds from guys who want to keep bilking a clueless family ownership group.

I wouldn't expect it but there must have been some rumblings about it for it to make it's way to Schefter.

Eberflus bragging about good walk throughs and meetings is out of the Nagy playbook.

He's going to start coaching to not get fired. Any lead the Bears get will immediately be followed by a switch to insanely conservative play calling. Trestman, Fox, and Nagy all ended up doing it.

I honestly do not think Eberflus is at risk of getting fired this season....just not very Bears. A lot more locker room dysfunction has to leak out before the McCaskeys really take notice. They probably think Eberflus is doing a great job.

they have home games the next two weeks. two more embarrassing offensive performances and there's just no way you retain him

You can't fire him before Thanksgiving because that's a short week with the game in Detroit. And you can't fire him after it because firing him before Christmas would be undignified and mean.

There is a good argument against midseason firings. Look, it’s usually the same teams who keep doing it for a reason. It doesn’t work, it would make Chicago a less attractive destination. It’s really one of the few things, maybe the only thing, the Bears ownership has a cogent and reasonable thought process on.

Rage firing coaches is bad business. It gets noticed, and for what gain?

I think it's become more common. Almost every team in recent years has had an interim coach, other than the teams who have had like two head coaches in 30 years, and the Bears.

I think Trestman had to go before the season ended. Fox and Nagy, I don't think it ever got that dire. Eberflus? We're approaching Trestman territory.

Trestman was such a bumbling whack-job they had no choice but to launch him. Eberflus can word-salad as good as Nagy. It's going to come down to the locker-room and how much drama leaks out to the public. If that gets worse then maybe they'll have no choice but to fire Eberflus. I just don't think it's that bad, yet. Two more losses and maybe that'll change.

If the Bears get waxed in the next couple of games, they better rid themselves of Eberflus.

Jerry firing Bulls coaches on Christmas Eve was a holiday tradition.

Honestly there’s almost no reason to do an in season firing of Eberflus. If he’s a dead man walking everyone inside the building knows it already, until then he provides at least a little bit of stability and it also provides better optics for anyone considering taking the job in the future. To me you just let this thing play out, it actually gets more chaotic if you let a bunch of assistants and position coaches try to run this thing halfway thru the season.

Of course, the closer to the end of the year it gets, the less impact an ‘early’ firing will have. So letting him go with only a couple games left would make more sense than doing it now.

The problem for me here is that I have absolutely no trust in Poles/Warren fixing this garbage fire. They both decided after watching all of last year that they had seen enough to run it back risking the future of not only the ‘franchise’ rookie QB, but their futures as well hitching themselves to this moron for several more years. Everything about Flus being bad was right there beating them over the head and they still passed on resetting it all. Just utter stupidity and incompetence. It’s unforgivable, and definitely a sign that they have no idea what they’re doing.

I’ll continue to say this until it ends with him being gone: Poles is a fraud and a con man who is in way over his head. He should never have been given an opportunity to be a GM.

I'm holding one more year to make final judgment, but all indications are supporting your theory. He may have done a good job tanking and clearing space quickly, but he's failed on the rebuild. I don't even factor in Caleb....across the league he was the consensus #1 pick...there is zero excuse for the team to be THIS bad.

In terms of Flus and the hot seat...you'll know he's in trouble the game he benches Caleb for Bagent. THAT will show a coach in desperation mode.

Some of the things Lombardi said before the season started :

Bears are soft

Swift is an add-on piece not a RB you build a running game around

Sweat is a good player not an elite player,Bears were stupid

Odunze pick should have been used for the OL or DL line

Where is the speed at WR?

Is Poles trying to build a fantasy team?

It looks like Poles is trying to build a 7 on 7 team

This offensive line is very overrated

The biggest mistake which Poles made was not trading his #1 overall pick and getting a "major haul". Particularly given the fact that this team was in "win now" and not "rebuilding" mode. The second worst thing that he did was to trade a "starting caliber quarterback" for a 6th rd pick. Or basically nothing. And the third worst thing that he did was to keep the pick anoint the kid the starter, and fail to sign a Quality backup to back the kid up. Tyson Bagent isn't that.

They have to roll with Caleb come hell or high water at this point and hope for the best. They never should have gone "all in" while they are in "win now" mode with a kid so unproven. Jt made no sense from the beginning.

They thought he was going to be CJ Stroudish. Little did they know that up until this point, he can't propel an object forward.

I perused Peyton Manning's rookie stats and he turned it around in week 12.
