Indie rock dead? He’s not totally wrong. But it’s not AI that’s replacing it, its roots revival.

I really liked Friko’s record because it wasn’t full of beep boops with track names like “LOVE // world +++” but let’s not pretend it’s not basically the Wrens. It’ll come back around, rock has been declared dead many times before and it comes back. I would really enjoy this golden age of bluegrass, country, soul and blues music.

I really like the new MJ Lenderman album. Seems like it'd be up Hussra's alley, kind of Pavement doing Old 97s.

I don't think rock is coming back around anytime soon. It's going to go the way of blues or jazz. They'll be a small core fan base and not much else.

Nah it’s too catchy with too much popular appeal to go the way of Jazz. Blues & rock music are often the same thing, and blues is kind of having a moment.

Ah yes, I’ve heard people say rock is dead before, but you know what? Rock somehow and someway makes a come back in a certain form. Yeah, indie rock may be quite low key these days, but there’s so much fantastic roots driven music around!! It makes the record feel fresh, authentic and much more genuine then current trends over attempting to be digital and moored. With you on that – I really like this current trend of focusing on old school bluegrass, country and soul for a change.

Blues "having a moment" is news to me. Even if it is having a moment, it's moved maybe a quarter rung up the cultural relevance ladder. Rock has been bleeding off popular appeal since the 70's. I don't see that dynamic changing.
