Just as an experiment, let's travel back to November, 2022. Justin Fields finished his rookie campaign 2-8, and after a lackluster start to the 2022 campaign, was 5-13 through his first 18 games as a professional.

Coming to town were the Miami Dolphins, a 5-3 team at the time who would finish just above .500 and squeak their way into the playoffs.

Justin, now in his 19th start as a professional, had a very decent game, combining for a touch over 300 yards from scrimmage and 4 total TDs against a defense that would finish the season 6th-worst in the NFL against the pass.

An anonymous poster had this to say during the game, an ultimately losing effort that put Justin's career record as a starter in the NFL to 5-14:

Quote:
Justin Fields is growing up right before our eyes. I was excited about the Bears when they traded for Cutler (didn't work out as planned, and wanted to be about (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky but this kid looks like he will be good-great once they get a few weapons around him.

Flash forward a week, when the Bears lose to the 2-6 Lions, a game that saw Fields again accrue roughly 300 yards from scrimmage against a bad team but failed to crack the 100 Rating mark, and was finished by a 4th quarter drive that saw the Bears QB, more than a full season's worth of starts into his career, go 1/3 for 7 yards with 2 sacks. That same anonymous poster, who is literally anyone's guess at this point, had this to say:

Quote:
It looks as if the Bears now have a QB that they can build around. This season is all about his development. Rack up a ton of "moral victories" til the end of season and lock up a high draft pick.

Another week goes by, and on this particular Sunday in November '22, the Bears lose to the Falcons in Atlanta, a game where Fields has a paltry 153-yard 1 TD 1 INT game against a 4-6 team which sacked him 4 times on the day:

Quote:
The Bears Pocket collapses far too often for anyone to be an effective pocket passer. Fields may not be good at it but it would be hell even if were good at it.

This anonymous poster even responded to someone else about the particularities of Justin's performance that day:

Quote:
Quote:
Fields had about 10+ seconds to throw the ball twice. Guys were open. He's afraid to let the ball go.
And seemingly 8 or 9 seconds of those 10 seconds he is running for dear life.

One more week into the future, and Fields loses his 5th straight start to the Packers, throwing for 254 with no passing TDs and 2 INTs, his record as a starting QB in the NFL now down to 5-17:

Quote:
But this really isn't your argument is it? Just Asking A Question. Or mine for that matter. I'm not saying that you can get his Hall of Fame bust ready right now or that he is a Pro Bowler (moment of silence for that game I believe) but what I am saying is that the kid isn't a bust either. Which is what MANY, including you seemingly were arguing in the beginning of the season. He is obviously a keeper at this point contrary to what I read on here week after week.

So what fuels them, because it certainly isn't logical consistency and an understanding of football.

Normally yes. Not this time. Next time, it will most certainly be sarcasm if I give you praise.

As someone who defended Fields a decent amount myself -and will still point out that Justin wasn’t the only problem (as we can now see).. I think it’s a combination of trolling/not liking the Caleb pick to begin with.

I’d seen enough of Justin after 3 seasons to know what I was looking at regardless of the excuses. Just like I’d seen enough of Poles and Eberfluse to know what I am looking at.

He was a flawed prospect from the get, his attitude is piss poor and he is genuinely a fake person. Been a hater since day one. I was a Fields hater too but it wasn’t personal there, I would’ve been happy if Justin proved me wrong. I want to see Williams fail and I am getting my wish.

That had to take a lot of time to dig up those posts just to troll LTG. You have a weird obsession with him.

Florio has segment(s) on this today or yesterday, on his pft/pro football talk podcast.
Talking about how the expectations were off-the-charts for Williams and how 4-5 for a rookie
QB normally would be an above expectations result.

Partially or maybe mostly that's on the Bears not managing
expectations and feeding into the irrational exuberance surrounding a
#1 overall franchise QB sporting less-than-franchise college-level credentials.

It's also partly on Williams coming into the league talking about
needing to own a piece of the franchise and we're never punting etc
etc. Could be getting humbled these last 3 games best thing that
could've happened to Williams medium-to-long term.

Don't know if getting gobsmacked by the league will make Williams
throws more accurate or motivate him to get rid of the ball faster and
not fear throwing a pick and give his receivers a chance to make a play
every now and then instead of constantly throwing the ball away. It should at least
make him more receptive to coaching on those things.

We know what Fields is, he was benched after a 4-2 start because he could not be trusted to run the play action offense that Pittsburgh wants to run.

It's only 9 games in with Williams. He was given a pathetic offensive line and a clown car coaching staff.
Maybe he is broken, maybe he is a never was, only time will tell.

The ups and downs of his development must have been tough to watch, especially with a team that wasn’t consistently supporting him on the field. It's fair to say there was a lot of passion and frustration, but it’s also clear that many saw his potential and were willing to stick by him.

You just literally did what you accused LTG of doing.

Maybe he just thinks Justin is a star and Williams is not. Can a guy identify with a player and fan boy on him without being called a racist?

You're doing the thing where you make the same reply in multiple threads, so I'll just cut to the major premise of my response to when you made this same post in the Bears game thread:

It seems like you're grasping at straws because you now know that everyone else knows you used to praise Justin and preach tolerance of growing pains and acceptance of "moral victories" after two seasons of failure and want to call Caleb a bust after 10 games.

Here ya go Kerry. Probably brings a ton of memories for ya I'm sure!

https://www.poconorecord.com/story/opin ... 723714007/

Quote:
In March, 2004, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, asked to explain his vote in favor of an $87 billion appropriation to support wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, replied: "I actually voted in favor of the $87 billion before I voted against it."

In the way candidates' remarks are reduced to campaign shorthand, his response became "I was for it before I was against it."

"You made a sarcastic joke about Caleb Williams, that means you hated him but now you think he's great!"

Aside from the fact that your premise is bonkers, so what? What if I did? It changes nothing about his performance or lack thereof, especially relative to how you were willing to give Justin nearly a season and a half of objective failure as a starter and still say that he's a prospect worth building around. Like I said, you're grasping at straws.

Pathological lying is characterized by excessive lying for no reason, which can cause distress and dysfunction in a person's life and relationships. It can seem compulsive and may be used interchangeably with compulsive lying.

What fuel's the cult is a lack of brain cells. In addition to that for LGBTQ Time Guy it's a fueled by deep homosexual unrequited urges for Field's that cause him/her/xem to take out there frustration's on Caleb.

This "weirdo" (much like his "buddy") also has severe mental issues.

Now when freaks get dressed to go out at night
They like to wear leather jackets, chains and spikes
They wear rips and zippers all in their shirts
Real tight pants or fresh mini skirts
All kinds of colors runnin' through their hair
And you could just about spot a freak anywhere
But then again, you could know someone all their life
But might not know they're a freak unless you see them at night, 'cause
The freaks come out at night
The freaks come out at night
The freaks come out at night

I was excited about the Bears when they traded for Cutler (didn't work out as planned, and wanted to be about (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky but this kid looks like he will be good-great once they get a few weapons around him.
