So you were in Chicago, got a burger - but not at Telegram Sam's place, and bumped this thread anyway? Telegram Sam must be rolling over in his grave.

Does Telegram Sam even smash burger? These days, if you don't have a smash burger on your menu you're basically burger obsolete/irrelevant.

To be technical, he bumped it to talk about a burger he got at Wendy's.

its some thing. we've taken to culvers and freddys pretty well for fast food but the freddy's was closed for some reason and the kid wanted a burger and wendys was right there.

The crabby patty is literally the same burger with some sauce on it. and the sauce is fine.

never been to burger belly. its a bit far out of the way. I drop kid off go pick up 4-5 pequods frozen pies and head home.

Haven't had the Wendy's Krabby Patty, but agree that there's a time and a place for all burgers. I'm just sayin' that Smsahburgers fall well under the list of a high quality 1/2 POUND hunk of beef moo-ing at Medium Rare.

i'll take a half pound of well cooked smashburgers over a med rare thick 1/2lb patty. But most smash burgers are so overcooked they require so much sauce to make palatable/juicy that you don't even taste the burger. I like thick patty burgers with not much else but some light
onion and pickles.

I think I prefer smash burgers now. I like the browning and texture.

I like pickles, but not on my burger. Too strong and covers up the glorious taste of beef.

When we have burger night, there's always a batch of smashburgers, as that is the preference of Princess Diablo. On one occasion, my managed to get one that was almost pink enough to be medium rare. That's tough to accomplish.

I ended up meeting Furious at TS's place and got the Amazing Grace. Grilled smoked pork belly, onion straws, sriracha-marinated pickles, Carolina BBQ sauce, all served over the burger on a scratch made bun. Garlic Parm Fries rounded out the dinner and it was outstanding.
