Gonna be a tough one. This is the first really good team defense the Bears have played since week two. Brian Flores is not the guy you want to be against the week after you enjoy the Fired Coach Dead Cat Bounce.

And then you got a short week after them right into a nationally televised road game @ Detroit, who is primed to absolutely blow the Bears the fuck out.

Bears keep it tight in the first half and then the shit starts spurting. 31-13 Vikes.

Williams is apparently awful against the blitz on the road and one of the best against the blitz at home. It’s a weird split that probably has more to do with the schedule than anything else.

This game strikes me as a mirror image of last year’s Vikings game (non-Bagent varietal). I remember thinking that Flores shouldn’t even bother blitzing Fields; make him play QB and don’t leave the field open for running. I think the opposite is true here. Blitz the shit out of Williams; don’t allow him easy completions, don’t let the Bears control the ball…basically eliminate the Packer game plan and keep the Bears d on the field. Maybe Aaron Jones has a get right game.

Vikings 35…Bears 19

I expect the offense to get wrecked, but Darnold turning back into a pumpkin should keep it close for a bit.

Well they have already lost on a last play Hail Mary and blocked field goal attempt, so let's go for the trifecta and say they will lose as the result of a last-minute safety.

I think the local media does like to overhype the Vikings defense, but it's a good defense. I also think the joy surrounding the Bears offensive performance may be fools gold. Bears can still win this game, but think it would need to be a lower scoring game with turnovers.

Bears 20
Vikings 16

The Vikings had a really hot start, but I'm not 100% sold on them winning in Chicago. The Bears are going to find a way to surprise us with at least one of these division games....this could be the one.

I see this game as a pick'em. Minnesota has played well, probably should be favored, but don't think of them as much more than average, despite their record.

Bears should lose this one. This will be the best defense Caleb has seen and easily the best defensive coordinator he’s seen. This is good experience for the kid.

The Bears need to stick to the run and the short passing game. That said, Brown needs to let Caleb go over the top of the defense if they get too close.. even if he misses some of those throws the fact that you’re willing to let them go will force them to keep it in mind. Hopefully Brown has a lot of max protect worked into this game because the Bears will most likely need it.

Darnold has played well this year and is talented. He does turn it over a bit tho so the Bears may get some opportunities there. This is a game where the Bears must scheme their way into pressure and getting at the QB. If they rush 4 and drop everyone else they can get picked apart here. Blitzing is a risk reward type game, but this is a game where I think they need to take the risk.

Not sure I see a blowout coming but the Vikings are a talented well coached team. Good in both sides if the ball and have some momentum. Too much for the Bears to overcome imo

I agree with the take that the Bears aren’t going 0-6 against the division. They’ll steal a game from somebody, and traditionally Minnesota has not always played its best football when on the road in Chicago. Plus last week the objectively correct take was the Bears were in disarray while the Packers would delight in pasting them, and then that narrative got turned on its head. So there’s a little bit of uncertainty that anything can happen, and with that a feeling that the Bears have a shot at this thing.

But that’s where the optimism ends for me. The Vikings are a matchup nightmare for the Bears in pretty much every way. This one really shouldn’t be close unless the Bears have another ace up their sleeve.

We will get to see if the new OC is able to coach up his young QB, will Caleb recognize his hot reads and get the ball out quickly into the open areas vacated when the Vikes blitz? Teams have destroyed the Bears early this year with A gap pressure, the Vikings have watched the film and will attack the Bears relentlessly, if they do not pick up and block the blitz early it will be a very long day, if they are able to hit a few plays, or run the ball the offense could have some success.

It may not matter, because if the Bears cannot stop the run they will get a steady diet of Aaron Jones, a guy that has killed them in the past followed by play action shots downfield with Justin Jefferson. The Bears defense could have a really difficult time getting off the field on Sunday.

Can see a late loss due to yet another terrible Eberflus coaching decision.

The theory that Poles has a soft spot for loser practice squad level guys that can’t make it in the pros like he couldn’t is starting to make way too much sense. It’s obvious at this point, and just another reason not to trust he can fix the O-line personnel problems on this team.

In the next interview he does I hope one of the journalists has the balls to ask this question directly and put it out there in the public eye. Force Poles to address this out loud.

What’s really concerning about Bates is finding out that he had inoperable arthritis in his shoulders and that’s why he couldn’t play. It’s so bad he’s considered retiring.. but the Bears -who knew about this- still traded for him (when they didn’t have to, he was going to be cut) and tried to keep this on the low.

Again, why should we trust Poles to fix this line when he constantly does shit like this, and picks the wrong guys to begin with (like Davis, Bates etc ect)..?

How did the Bears pass this guy through a physical?

One could easily argue that Ryan Poles is an incompetent evaluator of offensive line talent, particularly interior offensive line talent.

If you had an owner or team president with an above room temperature football IQ they would insist he revamps his evaluation process on the pro player and most importantly on the college level because he is not approaching the process logically. This is impossible with the Bears as George would have a hard time medaling in his category in the GM Special Olympics, and Warren is too busy scheduling meetings with the Senior Leadership Council to look at doily patterns for the suites at the never to be built new stadium.

Shelton was a bargain basement guy that the Rams replaced with a draft pick, Bates could not get on the field in Buffalo, Mike Vrabel hated Nate Davis because he did no offseason work, and Tevin Jenkins was off many teams draft boards, what made Poles think he could trust these guys?

His approach is similar to Phil Emery in that they seem to think they are smarter than everyone else and that they have a special set of evaluation tools that allow them to identify hidden traits that no other scout/GM can see.

I think you could easily get 200yds rushing on the Bears D if you really committed to the run.
