So what, we saw this with Rex, Cutler, Mitch & Fields too. I’m a little too young to really remember if McNown ever had his flashes, by the time I was of discerning age he had already become a pariah figure. Caleb’s name will join this list in a couple years. It’s just the way of the world.

Williams as a rookie so far is better than any of them as a first year player with the Bears though besides maybe Cutler but he had already started 37 games by then and it's still close.

You need to look up what Baker Mayfield did his rookie year in only thirteen games coming in to a team that until he took over as starter lost nineteen straight.

This is what is really so nauseating about the Caleb Williams hype, it just comes with much arrogance and contempt for reality. How many touchdowns would rookie Mayfield have thrown for had joined this Bears team with these weapons? Thirty? Thirty-five? Caleb will be lucky to get half that number in seventeen games. And it still wasn’t good enough for Baker to make it with the Browns.

Fields was a bad pick, a bad trade, a bad move and I called it the instant Ryan Pace moved up before Goodell even read his name off the card. Still he made a few really nice throws and sure was a dynamic & exciting player. Still, just didn’t have it. Not smart enough.

And like you said, Jay Cutler early in his career was way better than this.

I appreciate that you're doing a bit, but can you put a little more work into it and say things that are at least true?

Cutler started 5 games in his rookie season and averaged 200 yards per game and had a Passer Rating of 88.5. In his 2nd season his PR was 88.1 and he averaged 218 Yds/G.

Caleb right now has an 84.9 PR and averages 214 Yds/G plus another 30 on the ground.

I took Bricks word for it. Didn’t bother to look it up, don’t have an encyclopedic memory of Jay Cutlers’s Denver years.

It's early with the new OC but it's not out of the realm that Shane Waldron was the worst offensive coordinator in history. Caleb has doubled his QB efficiency. Now I don't expect an 80 QBR every game, but 60 seems a legit average to aspire to for a #1 pick after 11 games. Checked the schedule and there's really only two bad weather games left. He's got 3 games straight where can be completely focused on the passing game without 20 degree wind slapping his southern California face.
