I know everyone is impressed with him--Senor in particular is walking right up to the precipice of "he's so articulate"--but I'd have had someone more disposable soak up the rest of the losses. He just got the OC job weeks ago.

It has a distinct 2018 Cleveland Browns vibe.

The Bears thing to do here would be to hand him the job provided they continue this streak of close losses.

Smart to fire Eberflus, dumb to promote Brown.

What coach is going to run this incredible defensive scheme?

I think they pretty much had to promote him at this point if they were going to fire Flus. With the way his star has risen in the last couple of weeks.

Now they can get a close up view of what he is and how he would do?

I am not sold at all that he is the answer, but at least they will get an idea

The guy we were making fun of because he was Bryce's OC last year is now the head coach.

Once this guy doesn't succeed at successfully "unlocking" Caleb, then who will be left to blame? My guess is that it will be Ryan Poles if it isn't already.

If the Bears don’t have a winning record the rest of the way Ryan Poles is probably gone on Black Monday too.

My understanding is that the Bears simply do not have an offensive coordinator now.

This guy has been coaching from the press box for three weeks and now he’s going to be on the field in the mix of it all at eye level. And he’s expected to be on top of everything. A ton to adjust to on the fly.

Yep. Poles seems to be making a lot of moves now that are designed to save his own ass.

The move doesn’t make a ton of sense unless they’ve already put him in the catbird seat for the job.

Silverman said until Waldron was fired Brown was not allowed to talk to Williams.
Only Waldron and the QB coach could speak to him.

 whole thing is bizarre. Goes way beyond Matt Eberflus too, the Bears are one sick puppy of a football team.

The league is figuring out Caleb and he will Sophomore Slump hard, irregardless of who the head coach is.

So in a few weeks time Brown goes from not bein allowed to speak to Williams to head coach.
Only in McCaskeyland.

If the last few weeks were the league figuring him out that’s great news

So what this guy goes 4-1 or 3-2 and then they keep him for next year? That's what a dumb organization would do (raiders)

Freddie Kitchens. Luckily the Bears are up against it schedule-wise, every team they face the rest of the way is in the playoff hunt.

The 49ers are right behind the Lions in injuries.

If he does that well then the Bears at least have to consider it. But they need to see who becomes available too.

And not every instance of this happening has resulted in the coach being a bust.. the Colts fucked up after Bruce Ariens took over and won coach of the year only to let him walk. Ariens went on to be a pretty successful HC with the Cards and Bucs
