Good thing modern baseball limits pitchers innings so they dont get hurt.

Yeah, nothing has anything to do with at least 2 of those guys being 40 years old.

Blake Snell finally got the multi-year deal for which he was searching:

At what point does MLB cease being a competition among teams and just become an exhibition like gymnastics or something? Let's all watch the Dodgers beat up on JV teams. Yay!

I disagree, with expanded playoffs all you need is 86 wins and you make the playoffs 50% of the time. The Dodgers winning 107 games doesn’t do shit for them in a five game series.

Craig Counsell said the quiet part out loud when he said “we need to build a 90 win team”. Three years ago winning 90 games got you in the playoffs maybe 15% of the time. Now 90 games is 100% in the playoffs. Why waste a bunch of money unless you are LA or NY to get 95 wins only to get beat in a short series?

That's all true but, Antioch is right, the Dodgers have become pretty flipping annoying.

Good for him, he was a total class act and a damn good player for the Brewers.

Willy Adames offensive numbers are nothing special. Then, if he's a tanker who's production drops even more with big money.

Well you are wrong when you compare his power numbers and RBI’s to other shortstops, no way around it.

With a $182M, oh so terrible.

One of the 7 teams that can afford him and maybe the worst franchise of the 7. Perpetually 81-81. At least the Mets get drunk and TRY to be somebody.

Adames' numbers are going to go down simply because he's going to playing in a pitchers park in SF and probably won't have as much lineup protection. But I'd still rather have Adames than Bregman at the latter's current age.

With Tyler O'Neill going to the Orioles, the Red Sox really need a RH LF once they lose out on Soto. Not a lot in the market, the Orioles made a good move by convincing him to sign now before Soto decides.

And….$75M signing bonus and with incentives it could go over 800. Also, he has an opt out after year 5, when we will be 31. Nothing is deferred.

Seeing Yankees topped out at 760 over 16 years.

Hard to wrap your mind around those type numbers, but if you are willing to go that much for that long, why not just go all the way and top the Mets offer?

Didn’t have it in the budget.

Is 16 for 760M coming to your senses?

Because NY expected him to take less to play for the GLORIOUS Yankees. Players only do that for the Cubs!

The Mets can negate the opt out by bumping up his salary by $4m for each of the remaining seasons.

I don't think Eloy has the same problem as some of the others. He got himself into shape a few years ago and got injured, just the same as when he was heavier. I don't think it was the easy money that sidetracked his career. Moncada, on the other hand, can take his boxes of twinkies and long covid himself into oblivion.
