What does the auction house get to keep? I'm guessing around 10%? Definitely a lot of cool stuff there. I sold my meager collection to a place in Waukegan a few years back and got enough out of it to buy some new golf clubs

I would guess more than 10%

i was able to negotiate 0% commission. We already paid them for the appraisal + we had another auction house wanting the collection so our guys were happy to take 0% and make their money off the buyers' commission.

They usually start around 12% and negotiate depending on what you are bringing to the table. We were able to negotiate 0% commission so all the money is going straight to us. Auction house making their money on the buyer end + we already paid them to do the insurance appraisal which was over 10k.

you're not all wrong. With my divorce being finalized I need to rebrand before I get back out there. need a new car that doesn't smell and look like a wet dog. need all new clothes since I basically haven't bought "going out" clothes in almost 20 years. need a new couch for the house. deck furniture. yea, I got a bunch to get done in the next 6 months or so.

If Love Cruise 2 comes calling, I'm listening

Now that is a racket if you can get buyer and seller commissions.

Exhibit A: NFL ticket exchange aka Ticketmaster. Both the buyer and seller pay fees.

auction starts ending at 9. every minute a lot will close. As of last night, total bids were up to $186k. Today should be exciting. I scheduled a free day so I'm just at my desk working and watching the auction all day.

well that was fun. Ended up at $213k. 8 lots didn't hit the reserve so we can re list those later. Those items have low end value of 12k. 7 lots got no bids at all, but only one big ticket item in there worth 4k.

Good numbers for 243 total lots.
