Sounds like it is Paredes, Smith, and Wesneski for Tucker

He is the DH or he gets traded.

Can't wait for him to have a great year and walk because the Cubs are too cheap to pay him.

only onboard if they can extend tucker.

hurts to lose smith, obviously shaw will be the man. tucker is a known commodity, smith is futures.

wesneski. too bad. the cubs had no idea which end of the stick to pick up to harness his stuff, i have no doubt the astros will unlock and get more out of him. dodgers doing wonders with jackson ferris, current top 5 LHSP prospect. can't wait for pat hughes at the jan. convention to spin that the club is better in the field and at the plate with busch at first base than bellinger.

There's more of a chance they flip him at the deadline than resign him.

Tucker is a good player. He becomes available, I suppose you get him, but I thought they were looking to trade outfielders, not acquire them?

He instantly becomes the Cubs best hitter. Looks like Houston's ready to retool. Bregman on the block now?

Bregman is a free agent and them trading for Paredes and Cam Smith kind of signals he won't be back.

Glad Paredes is gone. He flat out sucks.

ball licker levine has pan-handling shill (hawking his CDs on the show with bruce's approval) hughes on his show. pat hughes says tucker makes the cubs better and will take pressure off the other hitters. i thought bellinger would do that. will hughes say that the cubs must be feeling the heat from BK, will be weaker when they give away bellinger for a $2 scratch-off ticket?

busch needs a much better season to win me over. i'd rather have bellinger at 1B than busch, in the field and batting order than busch, anytime, anywhere.

jumping up and down like 10 year old kids. jack buck, he is not.

Agreed, he was a dead pull hitter that thrives in a park built for him to get easy homers. He was worthless as a Cub. I agree w other poster above, much rather have Bellinger at 1B to team w Tucker, Bush is nothing special

yeah, tucker usually batted 2nd in the astro order...cubs have great L-R-L-R-L-R balance and if bellinger was in the line-up, very formidable. much more formidable with bellinger than busch.

cubs nowhere near the luxury tax threshold ($237 million) if they resign tucker to tucker money and the club is desperate to give away bellinger. stick with bellinger at 1B, busch makes $800,000....no harm if he sits for a year.

I don’t know why they are hot to give away Bellinger? He can play 1b and all three OF positions. PCA could be hitting .183 on May 18th. Bellinger is your DH and allows you to rotate all three OFs and Busch through the DH position.

Tucker is just one of those players who is a joy to watch in all aspects of the game. A true five tool player. I get he might just be here one year but right now I don’t want to dwell on that. He’s a real entertaining player to watch, this is the most exciting Cubs off season acquisition from on offensive perspective since maybe George Bell?

yeah. bruce levine says that the cubs need more financial flexibility in trying to get a SP. ok, bruce. hoping that hoyer and hawkins notice his ass-kissing. he should preach the cheapo cubbies have all this offensive talent on paper and should utilize it. where is the money issue? tucker gets any extension, cubs still under the luxury tax threshold. suzuki DHs, all the gold gloves in the OF and infield.

i remember the swirsk...everyone's favorite wimpy whipping boy. he called out the cubs publicly (snub the cubs) on wcfl and wasn't intimidated by the cubs front office. i think swirsky would call the cubs out, levine is a ball-licker.

I understand Tucker is probably a one and done Cub, but jeez, he' quite a ballplayer and aren't you sick of grossly overpaying for average? I certainly would be more upset with last year's Bellinger bending over the Cubs than this year's Tucker trade.
He's an ACTUAL good baseball player.

Are the Cubs so poor that they have to trade Bellinger to get bullpen help? Why would you trade him?

They have too many OF/IB/DH guys now. Happ is never leaving LF, Pete is going to play everyday in CF and Tucker is going to play everyday in RF. Now you have Seiya, Bellinger and Busch left for DH/IB. Busch costs nothing and was actually more productive than Bellinger last year. Seiya is considered the better hitter of all 3. Belli is making almost 30 mil so he is the odd man out. Unless they want to get weird and have Busch play 3rd, which I don't think happens, or play 2b if they trade Nico, there is no way they can keep them all.

they can take the money saved and hire a hit man to take out some of the brewers and then the cubs will be better

This is just the dumb logic of a Sox fan, explains why someone would be a fan of that organization that continually shits on its supporters/fans with no consequences.

Killing some players on the Brewers won’t make the Cubs better.

They really wanted him to opt out after last season. Now they have a 5 mil flyer on a potentially good reliever. I guess its progress. They had to change the limp .500ish lineup they had last year. Despite losing Cody, this is by far the least diverse team I can remember since the Kruk era phillies or maybe even back to the 50's!!

Somehow they only had to give $5M to the Yankees? I thought Bellinger was due like $25-$30M next season and everyone knew the Cubs were desperate to move him, meaning they would have to eat a lot more of that contract regardless of how money the Yankees have.

I guess they convinced the Yankees that they are taking on a 1 year deal (i guess $2.5M goes for this season and the other half for club option...) so he would be less costly than giving a multi-year deal to someone else, but good job by the Cubs.

Kyle Tucker makes $16.7 and Bellinger about $10M more....so would put them around 194M right now (projected).

Bellinger was one of Boog's favorites to heap praise on. Only one big year last 5 (731 ops). Even if he has a bounce back year it's a pretty good gamble to unload him for $5M.

And Tucker will maybe be a Cub for 1 year, hahaha

The Cubs have always operated under the philosophy that they don't have to get better, the rest of the division just needs to get a little worse. Sorry to hold the mirror up for you.
