Thanks, Radio, but he took the Vikings to OT, lost to the Commanders and Lions because of blatant head coaching malfunctions, and beat the division-leading LA Rams.

He's struggled at times, to be sure, but overall he's actually done pretty well with one of the worst o-lines in football and a bottom-third defense that lets opposing offenses hold the ball for an eternity, as well as a droppy receiving corps.

Well there’s a lot more wrong with Caleb than the team success. He’s worst thrower of football the NFL has seen in a good while, his accuracy is borderline historic in its badness.

But I was just responding to JLN who was like “ew advanced stats not for me just gimme the simple stuff yes please” as if Caleb Williams is just dominating somehow.

"Advanced stats" based on the football-equivalent of errors aren't really that advanced. It's a ratio that sounds smart to dumb people who want to think they're smart but, like strikeout-walk ratio, it's really nonsensical in what it actually measures.

K/BB ratio seems a fairly basic stat that tells a lot.

It's literally "strikeouts per walk" but even a basic understanding of the game includes knowing that walking more batters doesn't mean more strikeouts, and a low strikeouts per walk figure doesn't necessarily mean that there are an inordinate number of walks allowed, nor does it indicate an ineffective pitcher overall.

As for errors, the sabermetric movement identified the stat and analysis relying on it to be near meaningless because the stat itself is a judgement call about defensive play made by, in most cases, a local sportswriter acting as the official scorekeeper. It robs a play of context.

Similarly, "pressure" or "hurry" stats are largely judgement calls made by non-standardized scorecard keepers that rob the play on the field of any context. So a "pressure" of a QB with a good offensive line might actually be a tackle gets beat at the top of the QBs drop and he has to step up a bit to go through progressions, and that is counted the same as both guards protecting Caleb Williams getting dusted at the snap and his left tackle getting his doors blown off. But which of the two situations is more likely to be converted into a sack?
