So no prediction on next year for Williams? Got it.

Everyone who knows sports knows that there is such a thing as "empty stats". Caleb Williams mastered this "skill" in college and he is well on his way to mastering this skill in the NFL as well. He's not fooling anyone with that.

The year he won the Heisman he threw for 4500 yds and 42 TDs while leading his team to 11 wins. The next year had 3600 yds and 30 TDs with 8 wins.

I am sure there were some empty stats in there as there are with every QB that has ever thrown a ball.

He has had some empty stats this year with the Bears, but he has also done some good things that just get passed over.

I do not know whether Williams will be a good pro QB or not. I think his arrow is pointing up and if he gets a good HC and they fix the line issues he has a chance to be special.

But I have no clue how you and USA can just dismiss all of that and declare him bad. Other than you just want to be right about your original thoughts.

Nah I know how to spot staf stuffing. Feel free to throw in a few stats from this season which illustrates how well he's playing.

It's easy for me to dismiss his stats as Empty stats actually. Both in college and the NFL. It's fairly apparent what is happening with this kid.

That's why I would like for either you or Brick to list a few of his stats from this season that are supposed to be significant?

I believe it was 14 touchdowns in games they lost by 6 points or less or won when I did the math.

Nice try guy. Won't work.I kicked out 5 TDs that were thrown when he was down 3 scores or more and included the 7 that he threw when they were down 2 scores or more out of the kindness of my heart. They too were clear examples of "stat stuffing"

It's impossible to stat stuff in a game you lose by 6 points or less. It's absurd to argue otherwise.

Happens all the time in sports. He was down one Gane 23-7 entering the 4th and another 24-10 entering the 4th.

Everyone knows that both teams began playing time and score at that point.

Same thing during the Colts game. Where they actually lost by less than 6. Bears needed 2 TDs to win. Colts were more than happy to let them dink and dunk their way 70 yards with the Bears down 12 and 5 minutes to play
You thought that Caleb was balling out at that point when it was clear that the Colts were in prevent defense mode.

He threw 2 TDs when down 24 against San Francisco

Same with Detroit a week or 2 later. A couple of meaningless Tds at the end of the 1st half when the game was clearly over.

The Colts did a pretty terrible job of it given they took about 3 minutes to score a touchdown.

That one wasn't counted in the original number.

The 14 touchdowns came in games they lost by 6 or less. It's impossible for those to have been stat padding.

The Colts got the ball back with 2 minutes to go and ran the clock out.

The Colts hot the ball back with 2 minutes to go and ran the clock out

They got to kneel down after they got a first down. The Bears didn't even attempt an onside kick.

Me don't believe that this is factually correct.

Surest sign that Caleb posts "empty stats" He's thrown 9 4th quarter touchdowns this season. Not 1 has either tied the score or given the Bears a lead

No state income tax, plentiful gated communities in the exurbs (heck, Jacksonville is basically an exurb of itself), and the closest the NFL comes to a low-pressure market--something Chicago is anything but right now.

Plus he probably knows that Caleb isn't shit and more trouble than he's worth given his Diva attitude. Trevor Lawrence is clearly the better talent and he probably would prefer to coach and develop him

Me don't believe that this is factually correct.

That also includes the wins.

He has 19 touchdowns.
Subtract 2 for the second Detroit game.
Subtract 1 for the second Vikings game.
Subtract 2 for the 49ers game.
0 touchdowns against the Cardinals and Patriots.

All other games were lost by 6 or less.

12 of his 19 TDs were thrown when the Bears were down 2 or more scores.

9 of his Tds were thrown in the 4th quarter. Not 1 has ever tied the score or given the Bears a lead. The essence of "garbage" or "empty" stats

And as I already illustrated the Indianapolis game was a clear example of "garbage" stats.

Well, there's a good chance Trevor Lawrence sucks too. But there's no byzantine family-ownership structure or a whole C-suite of lobbyists or any of the other dysfunction that characterizes the Bears right now, not to mention all the fans in the #3 market absolutely losing their minds. Not as if it'll be the only job he ever has: it can be as much a resume-builder as offensive coordinator of the Lions if he plays his cards right.

This is where I point out once again that you are including a game that went to OT, and another game that should have went to OT if not for coaching incompetence, as garbage time.

14 of his touchdowns came in games they lost by 6 or less or won. None of those 14 tds are garbage time.

Dude you're claiming that the Indianapolis game wasn't "garbage" time when it's clear that it was "garbage time"

And if Caleb is doing so many 'miraculous things" during the 4th, why can't he ever seem to throw a TD which ties the score or give his team the lead?

And again which stats of Caleb are we supposed to believe are significant Brick? We've discussed empty stats enough.

Which stats of his are a "really big deal" in your opinion?

Here’s Caleb Williams on the most important play of a game that Brick insists he “played well” in.

Truly generational.

Thursday's best rumor was from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and was in regards to Dallas coach Mike McCarthy. Fowler reports McCarthy would throw his hat into the Bears ring if no contract is signed with Jerry Jones in Dallas. McCarthy has been coaching on a contract that expires after this season, a real rarity in the NFL these days.

I am not trying to argue that Williams has had a better year than Daniels. He hasn't. And clearly the Redskins are a better team than the Bears.

But the difference in QB play has not been that great. Williams has had a solid year, especially considering the history of Bears QBs.

Mike McCarthy isn’t a bad hire. Somewhat reminiscent of John Fox, who gets perhaps a little too much slack in retrospect but still handled himself with dignity.

Obviously the biggest problem with Mike McCarthy is what it says about the franchise. That they really are not going to change or reform in any way and ultimately they are going to take the guy who is almost certain not to rock the boat.

But as a coach? You can do a lot worse.

Ben Johnson is not coming to the Bears with Pace as the GM. We are going to end up with B.Flores, J.Brady or some guy we never heard of.

The only coach that would be worse than McCarthy is R.Rivera or some no named guy. Rather have Kingsbury, Brady, Flores then McCarthy. B.Johnson obviously is pick A and the rest C-F
