He’ll get sacked less but he’ll throw a lot more interceptions. Ballwashers will cheer the drop in sacks and make more of these silly types of ignorant excuses about the picks. Such is their lot in life.

2 excerpts from some pre draft report on him from a former scout. Its shockingly spot on for something written before he was drafted.

https://firstroundmock.com/2024/01/form ... is-a-bust/

The takeaway: Williams is too undisciplined, moody, and immature to ever realize his potential.

Yes, he is loaded with God-given raw arm strength, and elite ability to create and extend (which is the draw to him), but he’s underdeveloped in the finer points of the position. His skillset doesn’t translate well to the next level ⎯the NFL game is about quick time to throw, precise downfield ball placement, and ball security.

3. Time to throw ⎯Pro Football Focus recorded Williams at 3.44 seconds in 2022 and 3.21 seconds in 2023. Williams was sacked 63 times (2022-2023). Only seven NFL QBs are over 3 seconds (NEXT GEN STATS). Bears’ QB Justin Fields was the slowest (3.23 seconds). Fields was sacked 99 times (2022-2023).

That’s the dumbest scouting report I’ve read on the guy.

Not for nothing but...

2019 Jameis Winston: Blitzed on 38% of pass attempts;
2020/21/22 Brady: Blitzed on 26%, 24%, and 17% of pass attempts;

It's almost like teams are a little bit more hesitant to use the blitz to generate pressure on better QBs because....well I don't know football so I can't tell you. Maybe Mike North knows.

Holy shit, that’s what you’re basing this on?

I guess Caleb isn't winning 7 rings.

Weren't "we" celebrating the fact that Tyson Bagent took far fewer sacks than Justin Fields with the very same line just last season however? And using it as evidence that sacks were "all about the quarterback"? Just Asking Questions.

Can you be gay for Fields elsewhere?

Justin Fields "utterances" were all the rage around here until Caleb Williams began to suck ass though.

He wasted a whole year not taking risks. Out Of Bounds was the leading receiver and he got sacked probably 20 more times than he should have. Add to that the inaccuracy and anybody who cares about this team who doesn't have concerns is a fool.

The kid has a lot on his plate this offseason. Moreso than the 3 QBs that were ahead of him in production this year. Daniels has got to change some too or he won't be playing 17 games.

By the way isn't Antioch the dude who claimed in the beginning of the season that he knew more about Caleb's Abilities as a Quarterback than D.J. Moore? Talk about deranged

The O-line went thru 27 lineup changes this past season -most in the NFL. That’s a huge part of the problem.

Obviously Caleb is to blame for some of it too, but trying to attach the historical sack thing to just Caleb this season when there’s a mountain of other things to point the finger at as well is futile. There were 3 offensive coordinator changes on top of all that. It’s insane to suggest that wouldn’t play a part in this stuff.

Also, these metrics you continue to site are suspect too -I’d start by saying there’s no way the people trying to use that data can know definitively what the play call was or what the play design was supposed to be. This is important because timing is important and if players outside of the QB are making mistakes that’s going to compound these metrics.

Also, not all veteran QB’s seem to agree on this. Kurt Warner has talked at length in the past about how by design in the Martz system he was battered at times with 7 step drops and so on. And let’s not forget Rodgers lead the league in sacks early in his career behind some bad lines you guys had, you’re telling me you put most of that on A-Rod?

I think this topic is much more nuanced than the sources and pie charts you’re trying to use suggest.

Imagine for a moment if someone started a thread to say all the good things they feel about Caleb Williams and it was supported by a youtube link of a SCORE radio host stating that opinion.

Black gay quarterback is basically an exalted figure at SCR. They would give him ten years leash before they’d even say the slightest negative about him.

Fairly obvious that he is an immature kid and the beta Bears culture coddled him and enabled his immaturity. Sadly for him and his family there is no transfer window in the NFL, so his ass is stuck in this beta culture unless they bring in some red ass coach who might just bench his ass and go with a UDFA QB just to because the UDFA pays attention.

McKaskey is more interested in appearances than he is in wins, so you get the heavily edited Hard Knocks where nobody is swearing, full of clips that make the GM look like a nurturing mother figure who cries over cutting a journeyman DB but apparently does not care that his OC cannot get the players to pay attention.

This franchise needs to be gutted from stem to stern, unfortunately that only will come with an ownership change.

Their assessment of what he is as a player is the most important aspect in all of this. If they still believe that he is a "Generational Talent " after what they witnessed this season in his play then they are stupid. He isn't that and if they continue to believe that he is then it will have an impact on the sort of coach that they hire.

However if they believe that he is a very solid piece with which you can win with as opposed to win because of then they might not be wrong. I don't believe that he is but I could be wrong in that assessment.

However they cannot view him and handle him in the same fashion this off season as they did last off season and hope to get a different result. To the point where they probably would be well served to sign a capable backup that can push him for the gig.

Nah there are still dopes around here who believe that he is an "All world" talent who just needs a great coach and a superior O Line in order to unlock his MANY gifts. Get ready for another shitty season of blaming ownership, coaches, and everyone but the "Generational" One

From the guy you referenced yesterday as having inside information from the Bears on Caleb Williams.

His " inside information" pertained to Caleb's 'work ethic" and not what he believed his ability to be. Which makes your point irrelevant
