I love this part:

Some reports say Viciedo has been unmotivated in recent years, allowing his weight to balloon and his production to decrease.
So he's Miggy!

Isn't he like 19? An unmotivated teenager, should fit right in in the US.

I wonder if this Cuban third baseman Dayan Viciedo is ready to play from the getgo, despite only being 19 years old as reported...White Sox fans, I'm sorry. Joe Crede's agent, Scott Bora$, is mud as far as Uncle Jerry is concerned, but Joshua Fields regressed in very limited action when Crede's back stiffened down the stretch this past season. Joshua regressed both defensively and at the plate. The Sox cannot start 2009 with Fields at the hot corner...

The entire left side of the Sox infield could be Cuban defectors. I love it. I just hope they can straighten out the paperwork this year when they go up to Skydome.

Previous reports I read, indicated that he is a can't miss prospect. Scouts rate him higher than Alexi Ramirez was rated, by far. If he's the real thing, at just 19, you would think this signing should lock up 3rd base for a while. It has to be nice for both he and Ramirez, to have each other, as well as Hernandez, on the same team. That has to make some of the adjustments to the major leagues easier. Last year it was Alexi and Carlos along with Swisher. Lets hope Dayan performs more like Carlos and Alexi.

Cuban should buy the Sox...then they could be called "Cuban's Cubans".

How about a Cuban sandwiches stand somewhere in the park.

Honestly, I know nothing about the guy beyond what has been reported in the papers. That's hardly enough for me to think he will be starting at third next year.

I hate to trade Fields, as it would be the second player this off season that the Sox have sold low on. In my perfect world, the Sox would let him battle for the job in spring training, he would win it, and prove himself to be a competent MLB player while Viciedo lights up the minors. Then, either Fields or Konerko could move to DH in 2010 after Thome is gone and Viciedo can take over third. I doubt it works out that way.

We're half way to the all-Cuban infield I have always hoped for. Let's get Castro to coach 1st base.

Thumbs up to you, Frank. Visa problems prevented Alexei Ramirez from playing last May in Toronto for that weekend series vs. the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, the stadium formerly called SkyDome...

It's nice that the kid came to the White Sox to play on the same team as his Grandfather.

I need stats. He played in their BIG LEAGUES All Star Game at Sixteen?

If he's the real deal, you cant pay that much to let him sit in AAA. He'll learn more with the Cubans in the majors than he will with the "Cubans" in the.......minors? Are there any? This is a no brainer. We dont know anything but I want that kid if close to being ready to play from the get go. Nineteen and twenty year olds haver succeeded and this may be another example. We'll see

I still haven't seen anything official on this.

Is Dayan Viciendo going to be the Dave McGinnis of the White Sox?

Viciendo's Visa was just approved so he'll be coming over shortly to have a physical and sign the contract. The Visa was the hold up.

I have no idea to be honest but that was the holdup before allegedly and Kenny made mention to it in the presser yesterday.
