The countries’ cultural trajectory took a complete 180 between when they decided Kendrick Lamar would do the halftime show and when it actually happened. You can’t fault them, more than just the NFL got caught underestimating how quickly things would swing back around.

Oh there's no question it was designed for a Kamala Harris victory. The question is whether next year is about giving in to the jug-hooters or a doubling down on hotep rap. They might just invite Kendrick back again next year.

Well they’re going to the Bay Area next year which may even be beating out New York City in the pace of its liberal retreat. I’d be surprised if they go full Morgan Wallen, but how much is there that fits their amped up hypebeast profile that fits in between worthless pop country and worthless hotep rap?

It's going to be a country music show featuring Beyoncé.

I know it's in San Fran, but let's keep the gayness to a minimum.

The fact we haven't had the Weird Al Super Bowl where he is collaborating with the people who wrote the initial songs is the travesty of all travesties. Amish Paradise with Coolio. Eat it with a holographic Michael Jackson. Gump with the Presidents of the United States, the living Presidents of the United States crip walking, and Tom Hanks.

Did find a mumble translator site and was able to find out what the little person that did the Super Bowl half time was saying.

"Had to do da Super Bowl show, couldn't find any pants size 22X32. Asked my momma, what ima supposed to do"

"Mama took me to da kids section to find somethin' finer, just then they noticed that I wasn't A MINOR"

If I had to make a prediction about what the real vibe shift will be towards its “shut up and play the hits”. Don’t try and subvert my expectations, don’t try to enlighten me as the audience, stop appealing to new markets at the sake of your traditional base…just give me what you know I’ll like and what I always liked before (pre-2013 or whatever).

And in that light Metallica is truly the perfect NFL halftime show.

I would say Green Day more so than Metallica, which, even as the most commercially successful metal band, is still a metal band and thus unfit for mass consumption. A set of "When I Come Around," "Welcome to Paradise," "Holiday," and "Good Riddance" hits all the nostalgia endorphins for Gen-X and millennials, is nominally subversive without actually being threatening, and no one will be able to complain about People Who Annoy You.

If you can make sure their “impromptu” and “brave” political statement is about something like Save Tibet or Stop Climate Change then that’s a good idea.

Man, the left really dropped Save Tibet like a dirty diaper since the '90s. Too many Maoist-Third-Worldists got in the mix and now they all just believe that Xi must bring the rogue provinces to heel so that he can help them find good jobs. I don't think you could find a single card-carrying member of the DSA who cares one iota about Tibet.

Metallica is in the top 20 of highest grossing tours and we have a lot of friends that took their now 20 year oldish kids to the concert this past summer. It's not the worst idea. I think the halftime show should either be one of the most popular artists within a few years or have cross generational appeal. No political or social messages.

Nobody who is eligible to collect social security should be performing at the super bowl.

They screech and wail about “genocides” that happened hundreds, sometimes thousands, of years ago but can’t lift a finger about the one happening right now. Every low T Canadian who wants to nuke the Canadian identity because of some schools also sits back and idly watches their country get rendered a Chinese vassal state by a country actively eradicating Tibetan (among other) ethnicity.

Billie Joe's hatred for America over the last 20 years is not going to fly. Metallica would be awesome but there is no time to play all their songs and let them build up properly. Its not like they are good enough musicians to play the Metallica medley that SUM 41 absolutely kills!! If the Diddy allegations stick to Jay Z then the NFL can fire him and his entertainment group and then anything could happen. With him gone I could absolutely see them do a Bro Country set featuring Wallen, flanked by Luke Bryan and Country Post. I don't think they would go full crazy and put Hank Jr. back on but you never know!! I would settle for Blink 182 but their sound is a bit unpredictable live and most of the hits may have too cheeky of lyrics.

It could be argued that the most recent show was english hating.
