I literally shrunk all the clothes I put in the laundry when preparing for basketball today. I only decided about half an hour ago that I wasn't going to go. With friends, I would play in my new polyester Daisy Dukes and belly shirts, but with a bunch of strangers who make sport of mercilessly heckling each other over the Internet, no way.
Here's hoping there's a next time.

Not the best of excuses, SP. You couldn't get a pair of sweats and a t-shirt to wear? Couldn't stop off at Sports Authoritah and pick up a new pair of shorts?

Let's just say I looked in the mirror enough times to decide that my showing up would have given new meaning to the phrase "pantsless internet cretin." I can handle the abuse for the truth of my not showing, but I don't know that I'd have wanted photographic evidence of how I looked. Nor would anyone in their right mind want to post up against me looking like I did.

I don't want to dig myself an even deeper hole by responding to Col. Angus, but the god's honest truth is that I:

a. was relying on the clothes I laundered this morning, as I don't have any sweats or warmups other than soccer shorts and t-shirts, which are all shrunk. The vast majority of my minimal wardrobe is given over to jeans and work clothes. I didn't even have any regular white gym socks to wear.
b. I freelance and live basically paycheck to paycheck off of this work. I deposited a check last night but, despite the assurances of the teller, it did not go through for whatever reason and there's nothing they can do about it until Monday. I stopped off at the same branch today, just to see. As such, it would have been impossible for me to pick up any new gear (esp. after dropping $40 on shoes), pitch in for the gym, and afford to go out tonight (to the Empty Bottle - if anyone wants to verify my excuses I'll bring the shorts with me ).

I really wanted to go, and I'm just as disappointed about not showing up as I'm sure everyone else is (because, you know, I'm a really cool guy). I do hope that it happens again because I spent a lot of time on this thread talking about how I would be there and then for the above circumstances to go against me is a major fucking bummer. Que sera.

Finally made it back home and it was definitely a pretty good time.

I had a great time; although I'm paying for it already. Legs are sore. Lower back is very sore. I had to have my daughter walk on it for a little bit. It was good to actually meet some people from this board. Before today, it was just IB because he gave me free parking for an Illinois game.

Thanks for everything. It was so much fun, I had a permanent smile the entire time. Helped that my team won all but the last two games...I think. Some of you can really play! All of you know your way around a bball court. I had never met any of you and it was really so cool to put names to faces. For those that I thought would make it (bigfan, spmack, suckers, coast and others) you will have your chance at redemption hopefully soon. T-Bone, the cooler proved invaluable. Redneckmommy, thanks for the photography skills. And all the rest of you, it again was a blast. We shall do this again. And this time Weby WILL give Goff a ride, and maybe we'll get other radio luminaries out. I came out $15 ahead, so thanks for paying me a buncha money and making sure I made out ok. We may try to find a more central and/or cheaper gym next time. And suckers, you'll need to post a pic of you in the shrunk stuff. Just for proof and all...

I had a great time guys. Basketball on a Saturday is so much easier than showing up at most of the remotes so it was good to meet you guys.

I think when Killer V gets a contract for his skills, he's going to owe me and Kid for the feeds.

No pains here - just a nagging ankle injury that's been here for weeks.

whether it was related to him or not, seemed like the intensity went up a hair when Cairo showed up...fresh legs and all...and W_Z is still in the gym, shoosting

This was the first time I made it out to a gathering and I'm glad I did. It was great meeting all of you. I am definitely already sore (which made the family pics a little more interesting to attempt). I'm just disappointed I didn't make it out afterwards. Next time for sure.

Did anyone make sure W_Z wasn't still laying on the floor when we left?
