it's over

listened since '04. came here in '06 originally due to B&B fandom. my clowning on Mac when MJH went up against B&B is/was legendary. Penn State changed Dan (not for the better), but still a great listen during Bears season and clowning on all things Bulls and Sox

BTW...Spiegel. what a sanctimonious ass. acts like Dan was some sort of villain to him and the listeners over the years. Spiegs is just as big of an arrogant asshole, but hides behind 'good vibes babe'.

Unreal.

Station was dead in the late 90s when they broke up the heavy fuel crew and the monsters.

lost its originality, but no it obviously didn't die....still around.

and yeah, it'll survive but interested in what lineups look like in the future. Marshall and Leila isn't the answer in mid-days.

The station ran its course a while ago when they stopped being a radio station and started being a podcast distribution hub that also happened to be on the radio, but at least they had Bernstein as some shred of continuity with the old Score. There's no reason to come back to visit it anymore. Out-of-town TV anchors marking time between gigs? The ubiquitous but inessential David Haugh? Leery? No thanks.

Yep. Sad when meatpants and larry are your best you are in deep trouble. Meat should be thankful he still has a job considering it wasnt that long ago that he was the odd man out and had to do fill in stuff and weekends just to get by.

That's the answer they landed on, why wouldn't they do more of it?

Don’t be a snob CH. Bernsie needed to go. Circle of life. You’re a radio junkie.

This entire episode is about grown men getting their feelings hurt but Spiegel made sure that he let it be known his feelings had been hurt the most and the longest by Dan.
I truly hope they keep him and Larry together for a while longer. Those two complete basketcases are bound to have some entertaining blowups. It's Real Housewives for men or nothing at this point.

He needed to go? What was the need? Not in a PR sense, unless that's all you have.

Oh for sure, you can't set a ticking bomb like that and then defuse it.

The only people who talk like this are the people who don't listen to what used to be his timeslot.

Ask yourself if this is really what you want. If you don't listen anymore that's fine, but you can't convince me the station is in a better place without Bernstein. Those of us who still subject ourselves to the dying throes of something inexplicably near and dear to us know better.

I never understood this, and it seems to me like the corporations that try this don't understand their product, don't understand podcasting, or both. Transitioning an audience to a new medium is a HUUUUUGE undertaking, so the idea that "we're the same show, now just in hour-long podcast form" is naïve at best. Just plopping a cut up version of your 4 hour daily radio show with a "reminder to check us out on Spotify" isn't going to do anything. Seems like instead of trying to find captivating and/or polarizing hosts who could play well enough in any medium, they went for people who won't offend live and hoping that "Hour 1: Leila & Harris discuss Disney movies and the Bears" gains monster traction in SEO.

Dan, of course, was more than willing to fill that role to stay employed, until someone mad a Bad Enemy of him.

The country where jokes are back and political correctness is dead is also filled with people that are really, really happy the mean radio host can't hurt them anymore. Maybe I misread the whole reason people.liled Dan 15-20 years ago but it wasn't because he was the nicest, most fair and even keeled guy on the radio.

Last guy that got the Bears and the fandom on the airwaves, so I don't really expect you to understand 90% of this.

I haven’t listened to dan since he went to middays. I’d occasionally see a bit on YouTube. Dan, every single time was disengaged, looking at his phone

I know the board has had this discussion a million times, usually with that one haughty DEC guy, but the problem has always been that this model combines the drawbacks of live radio and podcasting without the benefits of either. A chat sidebar on Twitch is no substitute for a stable of chronics who act as catalysts for spontaneous content, and a podcast that doesn't have to stick to a hot clock and observe FCC regulations is better than one that does.

Hawg Ass is if you took the "if he's so smart, how come he's dead?" scene from The Simpsons and extrapolated that three-second gag into an entire board persona.

This is very true, but what I wouldn't have given to hear Terry or Dan say "ploughrider69, thanks for the 3 month sub, he says 'this show is kekW'"

On one hand this could be an opportunity to reinvent.

In reality they will keep all their dogshit out-of-towners, sanctimonious pricks and starfucking asslickers around to keep playin’ the hits. But with no Dan it’s dead. MVP is the better listen, too bad their signal sucks.

The station was dead when Mac was fired. The rest of you are just now realizing it.

I haven't even hate listened to it in years

This. Unless you’re Brick who wanted the “smart” score. That talked down to him.
