It's all coming back to me. The "BE A MAN! MAN UP!" drop.

Didn't the story end up being that Bruce was trying to do a high-concept parody of Dan Bernstein with all the "you have slandered me and sullied my reputation" hyperbole, but no one got it? Like, it was a joke that only he was in on? Maybe that was just a convenient ex post facto explanation for a bit that didn't land.

But the subtext of it all was definitely that guys like Bruce were taking fill-in shifts away from actual Score employees because of Drew Hayes coming in and Leery was getting territorial about it. I do remember Terry getting in on it and making it clear that Bruce wasn't welcome at their station, and he indeed stopped coming back. It's too bad, because Bruce is a one-of-a-kind talent who, yeah, often seemed like he was doing a bit that only he was in on, and he could be fun at times.

Yeah, it's bits all the way down. The caller was mad at him for mispronouncing Comiskey Park, which must have gone back to AM1000 because I remember my dad jokingly calling it "Kaminski Park" and a good chunk of my childhood was just stolen half-remembered Dahl bits.

It had to be a bit. He said the word ‘reputation’ too many times for it not to be a bit.

Even his fill-in time on AM560 has vanished.

Maybe he was funny and entertaining at some point in his career, but I have found Bruce to be pretty bad at radio and not very entertaining.

Ironically....he resides on a decent plot of land in the Old Mill Creek / Millburn part of Lake County. Strange fit, as that area is old money. I lived just a few miles south of there for many years.

Bruce Wolf is smarter and funnier than anyone who has ever worked at 670. Low bar I know .

I know Mac. Boers, and North all lost their fastball, but there is no point in time where Bruce Wolf was funnier than the days of HFC or Monsters. I give Bruce that Chet Chitchat was funny, but it ends there.

His show on 560 was hilarious

At no point was Bruce Wolf as talented or funny as Mac (was never a huge fan), Boers, Bernstein or North. A few of you really need to look in the mirror and get a grip on what's entertaining or funny.

Son of a bitch!!!

Harry Seaward started a new thread on this Bernstein shit. I'm so upset over this. How dare he do this. Couldn't you just post in the original thread. How dare you? I just cut my wrist over this.

No, I didn't. I'm fine. I'll eventually commite suicide over a bigger issue then this.

To the topic of this thread...

Bernstein has absolutely lawyered up. He's trying to get all of the money on what was his existing contract. We don't know how long that contract was. Audicy probably offered him 6 months of pay. Just a guess.

Dan's dad is advising him on how to handle this to get money. Not to mentions Dan's friends in high places. Lawyers. There will be a law suite. Dan will probably win.

I said it at the time when Dan McNeil was fired. He should of sued for all of his remaining contact. He didn't. But I think he would have won in court.

Anyway, that's why Bernstein is silent. Him and his lawyers are planning on getting his remaining money on his contract.

They would have negotiated the terms of the buyout before the announcement. The deal is done.

Exactly. The announcement is not made until the release is signed. Only in extreme cases do contracted employees get fired without buttoning up the release and buyout. That is usually in cases of fraud or after an investigation of sexual misconduct and the like.

I'm sure this was the genesis of a long thread in real time back in 2009.

I seem to recall that this was back in the days of Sir having a night show that only aired something like 80x per year. The B and B fill ins were his big moments and those were in jeopardy.

Listening to that clip, it actually is a pretty good parody of Bernstein, if that was intended. Also, Bruce was proven correct, as Hester is, in hindsight, one of the all time Bear greats.

I think though, that Bruce had a few erratic incidents on air around that time.

Anyway, researches, get to work and find the thread.

B&B were kinda down on Hester at the time because the Bears were still desperately trying to use him outside of special teams and couldn't make it happen, largely because he was retahhhhded. I think after 2008 they gave up. But looking back, he's not only one of the greatest Bears of all time but one of the most important NFL players of all time. He changed the game. There basically aren't kickoff returns anymore because of him.

As I recall, Leery lost some fill-in work mostly to Rozner but was still in the rotation--before all that, he was so much the designated fill-in for Terry that he'd even skip out on Hampton & Holmes to do afternoons with Dan. The real casualties were Drinky and Goff, as they were the ones "no one wanted to hear from," and Leery seemed to see himself as the tribune of the silenced producers. Much like the stuff about Hester, this was also borne out, as no one had any interest in what Matt Abbatacola thought about anything once he didn't have Terry around to be his surrogate funcle.

Why do you think Dan is punishing his kid by not doing the OWC podcast? I would think that was important to the son being in school for that sort of thing.

The podcast was through Audacy. Of course they're not doing it.

It's a total myth that they changed the kickoff rules because of Hester. Hester had his two highest career kickoff return totals in 2013 and 2014, two years after the rule change. The rule change was a safety thing, a direct reaction to the league admitting that repeated blows to the head links does lead to neurological issues down the line. It never made any sense to make the game less exciting just to spite Devin Hester.

When someone gets fired (assuming that's the correct term) in his profession/position, are there contractual/legal agreements that prevent the person from being unable to take any jobs for a period of time, speak on the specific matter on any public/social media platforms?
