2nd place is $2M less than first. Patrick reed's hole out on 17 was worth $600k in prize money. scheffler had a "disapointing" 4th and gets $1M to comfort himself with. i wonder if these guys think about the prize money too when lining up these putts.

A lot of the big names already have generational wealth and while I am sure they like the paychecks, for MANY of them it is about trophies and legacy. Justin Rose has over $66 million dollars in career earnings.

....trophies and legacy and airplanes......

The Masters—pure Augusta green, cloaked in tradition, and dripping with exclusivity. For me... it’s not just a golf tournament—it’s the weekend. Picture this:

You’re lounging in your Eames chair, matcha latte in one hand, phone in the other, firing off a Slack to your startup’s growth team while Rory lines up another immaculate putt. You're not just watching the Masters—you’re streaming it in 4K on your Frame TV with a Sonos soundbar, naturally.

Rory finally taking the green jacket? Very on brand. Precision, discipline, a touch of stoic charisma—it’s what every productivity podcast aims for.

You’re rocking the quarter-zip with the subtle Masters logo—subtle, because you don’t need to flex, but if someone notices? Respect. You probably have a Masters pimento cheese sandwich recipe saved in Notion next to your Crypto portfolio tracker.

And the course itself? It’s not just golf. It’s curated, pristine luxury. The kind of place you dream of playing once your Series B comes through and your networking dinner at Soho House pays off.

Bottom line: The Masters isn’t just a tournament. It’s a lifestyle aesthetic—quiet power, unshakeable confidence, and a little dash of Southern charm. Just like your Instagram story says: “Discipline equals freedom.”

Well said.

The $2m extra would have been great, but for a guy like Rose, he's probably thinking more about not getting the lifetime exemption, not hosting/attending the champions dinner, etc.
